I know I've been bad about posting pics! Second child syndrome anyone? 😂

Formally introducing: Melrae's Sound The Trumpets v Soluna "Revel"

I believe we are two weeks in and Revel has blended in very easily here. His personality is starting to come out. He is a sweet, sweet boy with a little playful side. Him and Ripley get along great! Minus the few paw slaps to the ground while she learned just how big she was, she now largely face wrestles with him while he uses his entire body to wrestle her face lol. He does a lot of nibbling and gnawing on her head and she lets him while lightly mouthing him back. When she has a toy she would let him know to back off with a look, to low growls to larger growls to air snapping at him (never touching) and he would cry as he was rightfully scared and eventually find something else to do lol. Now I guess he is feeling full of himself and does a little puppy dance back and forth, add in some barks, and sometimes I find Ripley walking away 😮 You can say Revel definitely has gotten comfortable! Doesn't work all the time though 😁

Training a little one again has been a lot of fun. He is a bit softer than Ripley and not as eager at the moment as she was but I think with time that will change as he develops a stronger food drive. Keeping things short and sweet while ending every session off with some play! We are spending a lot of time on learning to hold still in a stand and build duration for that. Also, shaping stepping into a stack. All with clicker training. He already knows to gait short distances on the show lead with some kissy noises, it's too cute. He has learned leash pressure quickly after quite a bit of resisting and fighting on the show lead. He would literally sit back on the leash, but one moment of releasing the pressure and stepping forward got him rewarded so it didn't last long when we worked on it a few times a day. I started shaping and luring some heel position and he really liked that! Alas, not enough time in the day to do it all so show skills take priority for now. Fortunately, a lot of the show skills translate into other areas of obedience too. One step at a time. 😁

He got to tag along to my family's thanksgiving get together. They don't have dogs so it was safe but he had good exposure all sorts of people, kids, and noises. He also got plenty of rest alone in his kennel in the main room. It was so good for him!

My dad and Revel. My dad is just smitten with him. He had a doberman growing up and always speaks fondly of her.

My best socializing tip for a young dog or even a reactive dog. Sit in the car in a parking lot outside the store on the weekend. Safely exposes them to stimuli! Be sure to have the window cracked too for sound exposure too.

PXL_20221203_041733940.jpg

Ears are up but the wrap slid up the posts making them look super long lol! I fixed that the next day.
PXL_20221203_224927551.PORTRAIT.jpg

Fixed the sliding but still adjusting the length, bare with me as I had to learn a new way to post 😁.
PXL_20221204_070500301.jpg

Also, yep, using vet wrap per my breeder's suggestion. Shouldn't be a problem when they aren't wrapped tight, don't get wet and are changed daily for now. 😊 We wanted to get those ears up asap as they were puckering quite a bit so this let me do that so long as I checked them daily.

I kinda love that they cuddle.

Ripley was all over me when I was getting Revel's posts ready. So I made sure to include her so she felt pampered too and she seemed to enjoy it in the moment. I think she regretted that decision by the time we took pics 😂

A few videos too

One of the earlier ones of them playing. Ripley learning he can be kinda fun!

Pretty sure she had a toy before this. This is what he does to toe the line with her and egg her on lol.

This mornings play

My favorite pic has to be the one with the little tongue sticking out seeming to say "but I don't want to sit still for a picture"! 🥰

Aww great photos and I can see he's grown quite a bit since we saw him!

My they play quietly compared to these two. :)

So many great shots! He looks so adorable, like he’s mimicking Ripley for all the good behavior. The face wrestling is just so funny.

Haha I'll enjoy it while it lasts. If she's in a good mood she's quiet otherwise she groans and moans and it turns into growling. If he is in a good mood he's not. lol! YIP YIP *puppy barks* 😅

She is SO good with him. I hope he looks up to her and her good behavior! She helps me out too. One time he wouldn't come inside because he had a stick and instead of coming inside he zoomed all around the yard like, haha I HAVE A STICK! I called Ripley from in the house and told her "go get him". She looked at me then looked at him and was like, "Ok mom! Mission accepted!!!" She ran to him, paw slapped him, grabbed his stick and ran back inside the house. He of course chased her. Success. 😂

that photo with them both posted, I just love that one, and the story to go with it!
She's too funny and looked so pathetic. Almost like she realized I was going to post the pic on the internet for thousands to see 😁

re: videos - Asha was never this nice while playing with Reckless! She was like a relentless torpedo on steroids. No wonder R got sick of her!

Hahaha I totally can see that! Even Ripley's patience wears thin from time to time. This morning she went to her chair when she had enough of him but no, he wasn't done!! I heard low growling and see she's letting him know clearly, she is done. He maybe would try to push it but he already got snapped at once this morning for trying to steal her bone so I think he decided he'd rather live today 😂

And to make matters worse, R. was so well trained to be dog neutral she refused to growl or snap at Asha. So of course that made it worse. Now then at age 3 and 8 they just hang out, no dirty looks from either one, ever, but they don't have any desire to cuddle or snooze together either.

Loved all these pics! Got a good chuckle out of some and collected good vibes from them all. Loved Ripleys face pull when Revel got a mouthful of her back. :p

Lovely photos and videos! Revel's face must be melting many hearts every day. Wonderful to see how well they play together.

You know what they say, Mess with the bull and you'll get the horns

Ripley is playing so well with him! But also sounds like she's setting excellent boundaries

12 weeks old, over 25lbs and doing well with puppy culture stack training! Growing like a weed.

He has gone to the store two different times so far to get a little socializing exposure once he got his second set of shots. He never touches the ground and I sanitize the cart with an odoban bleach mixture. It is a critical time to get him out there so I try to as soon as I can and as safely as possible 😊 He did great! All kinds of noises, sights, smells and people.
PXL_20221208_160314268.jpg

Went to TSC this evening and Revel worked on focus training in public. Got to smell all sorts of new things in the air going down the aisles. I used the new smells as distractions while asking for eye contact. He's already got the hang of it! So fun to watch that young mind work. 😊
