I can't believe Rubie doesn't break out of that in a heart beat.

It's actually got clips on it, attached to the outside walls, to secure the zippers in the closed position!! I will try and get a picture next time it's open. She's also never tried to break out of or escape anything *knock on wood* so wasn't a super huge concern for us.

It wasn't the zippers in particular that would concern me but rather the mesh and material. Fury tries to break out of his all metal Variocage by chewing the bars and digging at the bottom. My guess is that he'd put a hole in that mesh within the first few hours.

Do you think if you'd named him Buttercup....

I kid! No, today was not only for testing the ring waters but the time in her crate and how she reacts to all the things going on. She was wonderful! Did some woof woofs when people walked by but I was able to walk into the next room, go to my car, use the restroom and not hear her barking when I was within earshot. But our training goals are different so could that matter? If she see's people inside and around the ring, she is to absolutely ignore them.

We're parked far away from the training but they can hear the dogs barking and when people walk through with their dogs for their turn it sounds like a war zone of sorts. The dogs are usually quiet until they see someone and then most go into territory protection mode. Fury is just 4 months old though so he's not overly territorial - yet. He just wants to break out of the crate when I first put him in. After a while he seems to realize it is futile and gives up.

@LifeofRubie and @Drogon FWIW, Kaiser has never been one to scratch or bite at his crates or barriers. We use a mesh baby gate to separate K from the cat who sometimes stands up against the mesh to hiss at him. How mesh would work amongst other dogs, we should probably practice that.

I'm going to guess that for your purposes you got the more dominant puppy from the litter. So non-Buttercup Fury probably just hasn't gotten the message. Kaiser's littermate, a first born dominant male, is also very much against his crate. So much so that he chipped one of his long teeth.
