Do you have ticks where you live? I know you don't have porcupines like poor Albert got into, but I don't know about ticks. Ticks are an explosive problem where I live since they were never bad like in more southern states... I just wondered because I have been avoiding long grass where I hear ticks wait to get brushed by and get on an animal. People and dogs are getting Lyme disease from them, but Hans is vaccinated.

We live in a very low risk area. Thankfully! Spend lots of time in long grass and wooded areas. There are some areas in the UK where the risk is very high, like the Lake District, Southern Scotland, Exmoor, New Forest....

I’ve never experienced a tick, hopefully I never will.

Eager to hear about porcupine quill removal but in the meantime, Norris, Rubie, Moose and I went on a canine cruise with the RealDogMomsOfChicago and ReaDogDadsOfChicago! It did rain which made Rubie angry but she got over it. MINOR PHOTO DUMP.

Everyone was good!

Looks like a great experience for them both, despite the weather.

I must say I’m loving Rubie’s sparkly purple collar. Very nice!

I was actually quite fun! About half the people who signed up cancelled or didn't show because of the rain which I was OK with. It probably would've been a few too many people and dogs if EVERYONE had shown and you always get nervous with a new group of dog people for the first time (RealDogMomofChicago and RealDogDadsofChicago) because they know each other and each other's dogs, etc. Not like when you hang out with a bunch of Dobie owners and they all roll their eyes and laugh when a Dobie does something very Dobie-like!

And thank you! That was her 2nd B-Day present

Very lucky! I haven't seen any ticks in IL but we did have a couple run ins (dog and human!) in PA.

I love the dog boat river cruise. Lol! Mine are spoiled and have their own boat hehe. Have you taken Moose swimming yet?

Not yet! There is a forest preserve here that is 'off leash' but with no fences. There is a little pond there with a pretty shallow entrance that we will try out soon!!

He tends to look huge in pictures (he has to be close to get the treat first!) but here is a pretty accurate size comparison.

His litter mate is in puppy class with us but no pictures, yet! His brother is taller and definitely lighter in color. I think Moo is more handsome but probably biased

The sooner you teach him to swim the better! I took mine as soon as I could as pups, they are swimming water loving fiends now! It took Brinks a little while to figure out how to swim without sinking but he's got it down now. LOL and I can't imagine another pup, relative or not, being more handsome than Moose.

And then the rain came
Aww... And look how dad weathers the storm and gives Ruby the raincoat! What a guy!

And you don't have mosquitoes there either! Maybe that's where we should move! LOL

Shhhhh...I haven't seen one yet either. And I'm just using wondercide. We usually don't get away with not seeing any at all. Sometimes my husband will come in with one cuz he's been out trimming trees and stuff. I'll never forget the one year we're sitting at the island eating dinner and watching TV, him in front of me, and I'm looking at the back of his head with a tick crawling on it!

If you didn't catch it in the shout box, this is what Albert did last night before we were all getting ready to go to sleep.

We got this many out, then he started jerking around too much so it was off to the emergency vet we went. I'm glad we did since he had a couple stuck in his gums that I didn't see.

And this was an accident when I was trying to take a photo but you can probably see them better here.
Omg !!!! That looks really painful ! Hopefully he learned his lesson ! Poor guy

The mosquitoes are horrible here this year and poor Albert always gets covered while Della gets very few. I'm sure it's because of the black color since it was the same with our red horse and black horse. I guess there's a reason they tell you to wear light colored clothes when there are bugs out.
I tried to take the dogs out to the garden to get a few things done this morning but I was almost inhaling the mosquitoes.

Out for some play time a couple days ago.

We now have a huge outbreak (birthing) of little tiny frogs. They are about a 1/2” in size and are everywhere. Now I finally figured out the mystery of why Bacall walks around trying to spit foam out of her mouth...she is catching them. I sure hope this cycle ends soon!!
Between mosquitos, yellow flies, black flies, fruit gnats, millipedes everywhere and flying ants, I am going crazy!!

:pullhair: lol
Usually after a rain we have a lot of toads in the grass and when I'm mowing I am constantly stopping and letting them hop on by. Or stopping and getting out and moving them. Or just hoping I'm not running over one!:bag: Drives me nuts!

I miss my terror puppies when I travel! Didn't get home until after midnight last night so they were extra wiggly when I saw them this morning. Moo always looks so huge when I haven't seen him for a couple of days :(

His head has definitely outgrown his body lol!! It just looks like a normal lab sized head on a puppy body. I'm sure the rest of him will catch up haha.

He's definitely in an awkward phase... I think he's getting ready for a little upward growth spurt; his belly is getting wider :woot2:

This face looks like a playful ‘old soul’ in there.

I know! When did my puppy become an old man?!
