PermaStay Ear Implantation For Cropped Ears

Oh the tips can take forever to firm up and with long crops you'll always get a little wiggle when they're active. I don't think Albert's firmed up completely until he was between 2 and 3 years so don't be discouraged. I honestly don't think the implants would do any good for the tips since it's mostly for if an ear is flopping and can't be fixed.
If it makes you feel better keep doing the BR's but unless the tips are always flipping I don't think you need them.

To be honest, I don't know if I'd go with a super long crop again, even with experience, but for a first time poster it can be overwhelming.

It's extremely overwhelming and he def needs something on them I feel like we have gone backward. His left ear has always been his better ear the right ear tip is still pretty floppy he can get it up but it's not firm. I guess I'll keep going with the posts and things and hope for the best. The tips are always flipping but he can put them up. I think he's just being a butt lol I love the long show crop but it's so stressful. I have no idea what I'm really looking for :/

I think the tips will always be wiggly in comparison to the base of the ear. Even my floppy earred dog's cartilage is like that. I think his ears look great!

But it's really wiggly and will bend over with nothing on it :/ I don't know why it's doing that. It never used to do that.

I think the tips will firm up some but will never get as firm as the base. If you look at a natural dobe you can see and feel the difference in the cartilage from the base to the tip.
Watch some videos of the really long crops, you can see the tips wiggling as they run. Of course all ear leather is different and some super long crops do stand nice but too often with the floppy tips for my taste.

The inplants are cruel and not successful and actually cause issues with the ears. Plus, they are illegal to use in any AKC venue. The only corrective surgical procedure that is successful is the scarification, where they make a small incision in the ear and scar the cartilage in the hope to thicken it and cause the ear to stand. This procedure isn't always successful, and there are limited Vets that can do it. The only Vet I would trust for this procedure is located in TX. Imho, if you are still having issues, continue posting. I will try to get that video of my girls' ears for you. Every dog is different, so time for the ears to be done varies. You know you are done when the ears stand erect and don't flop in or out. Some inward curve is normal. You are posting a 5" show crop. Is his ear leather thick? If so you will be posting for longer than 1 year. The crop you chose is not for beginners, but you are very dedicated and doing a great job.

Honestly, I think it would be better if you posted pics of his ears for us to see. Especially when his ears are doing things you worry about. Video would help too. That way we can see where he is at and help show you what to look for

The vet that I spoke to that actually used them said they no longer use them due to lack of success rate. There are other procedures available to attempt to repair.
