We are considering getting a puppy from a breeder and would like to know if it's normal for the puppy's ears to be missing some fur? It appears that most of the puppies have some thinning of the fur in the ears, as you will see in the pictures, but she seems to have the most. The breeder told us this is normal for them at 5 1/2 weeks old, but I would like to get other people's opinions on this as well, please. We just don't want to worry about getting a puppy with health issues already at such a young age. I've attached some pictures of her and her littermates as well for everyone to see. Any information/input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I'm not familiar with whether that little bit of baldness is normal or not. Perhaps ask the breeder? @Rits has raised a couple of litters, maybe she will say if her puppies experienced this. If they are otherwise healthy, I don't think I'd worry about it. If you are getting a cropped puppy you for sure will see thinning hair on the ears as it does come off with taping them up. It always grows back. Congratulations on a new puppy coming your way!

Welcome from Minnesota!

I don't see anything out of the ordinary there and sometimes they will get thinner hair from either scratching or playing with litter mates.

Congrats on getting a new friend! Hope you stay in touch and we can hear about your journey!
