Pepper šŸŒ¶ļø

5:30 am she wakes in her crate and comes into the bed to snuggle. We’ve made a deal lol and she knows it.

Poor girl is having another false pregnancy. This time she isn’t mothering anything, but she is extremely sleepy and lactating. Yesterday she was using her back leg to itch her chest and she released milk, I was like oh my you poor girl!

I had her spay set for 9/3 and the vet had to move it to 9/16. I am definitely going to have it done this time. Wish it were the earlier date since her birthday is 9/24 and they have a WAE near us mid September.

We are finally getting our kitchen renovated. They told me last Wednesday they could start it Thursday so I was in panic mode clearing out the kitchen and dining room. Pepper has been great! She hung in the yard Wednesday while I worked. She doesn’t mind the loud noises with the demo, the chaos now happening here, and she is nice to the workers. Although, the one dude is a little nervous about her lol.IMG_0099.webp

Poor baby! How long does that usually last?

And how fun to do a remodel! Especially a kitchen! I hope you took a lot of 'before' pictures. It's always fun to see the difference. Sounds like you're having a complete remodel? Cabinets, your appliances? Very exciting!

Typically 3 weeks ish previously. She’s just really bummed this time, but her usual sweet self. Lots of cuddling with her. The mailman even said to me last week, she seemed really sad running up to say hi to me. 😢

Yes, the whole thing ripped out and the connecting wall to dinning room down. I cannot wait, it was original 1962. All new everything. Now it’s down to the studs and I’m just happy the old crusty kitchen is gone!

I did get a lot of pictures too , we can look back and say wow!

A lot of cooking outside which is nice. We enjoy cooking and so we all take turns with the meals.

Oh wow, that's quite a while. And for the Mailman to say she looked sad makes me sad for her! It must be very noticeable. Poor girl!

Oh that's so fun! We did that in our first house. Taking down the wall to the dining room also! Made it a big beautiful kitchen with a big island, a skylight and everything. I think that is what sold that house in 3 days! You will love it! And doing it now in summer makes it easy to cook on the grill!

Yes sounds like what we are doing too! Minus the skylight would love it we had those!

Thank you :) wish me my sanity through this haha.

Took our morning walk today and walked around the country club, which is in our neighborhood. We’d never join it lol not for us.

There’s a sidewalk next to the road and I see a lady ahead to our left with her small dog - maybe a beagle mix. She’s on her phone not paying attention. I always put Pepper in a heel when we pass people and dogs.

We make more space and get closer to the road. The lady sees us and says hi and her damn dog growls, barks, lunges and runs to Pepper. Apparently, this woman didn’t have ahold of her leash, must’ve been in the crevice of her elbow idk.

I get in front of Pepper and Pepper backs up and was totally good about the situation. The lady screams can you get my dog?! Because we are next to the road as cars are driving by. I yank the stupid dogs leash hard and it squeals- it had a harness on.

She’s apologizing and didn’t even come to get her dog until I had its leash. Like wtf?!

I hand over her leash to her and walk off telling Pepper how good she is, good girl, good job. The lady is yelling I’m so sorry.

Idk how many times I’ve had dogs run after Pepper in my neighborhood, but it’s incredibly annoying and rude, not many responsible dog owners around here. Yet Dobermans get the bad rap…

Ya, You can't fix stupid.

Great job on Pepper's training and setting a good example.

Ugh why can't people put that phone down for at least the time they are walking their dog and spending time with it. One day it could end very badly for the poor dog if she's not paying attention. Good girl Pepper though!
Last weekend Elroy slipped his collar when hubby had him and I immediately panicked, even though it was a really long driveway. It didn't take long to catch him but things can happen fast.

Seriously, if Pepper felt threatened she may have bitten that dog and we were so close to traffic it could’ve been hit.

It amazes me that woman just stood there yelling as I dealt with it. I am always observing and it irritates me that happened today.

Glad you were able to catch him! Yes, things happen so quickly sometimes.

We’ve had 3 dog incidents in my neighborhood which is just crazy! They are untrained dogs and have rushed Pepper. I couldn’t imagine having a dog like that.

It's good to get it done so she can get on the road to recovery since she's old enough. I know just how stressful it is dropping them off but when you get that call saying that everything went well, it's a big sigh of relief. Of course we're all here for support too.

Thank you @JanS ā¤ļø

I know I want it done and out of the way for her and I. Told my husband I’ll be super stressed until I pick her up. Then we are crashing in the living room for a few days.

I feel like vets just get better and better with time, especially on the common stuff like spays. Your plan to crash together in the living room will be good for you both. I haven't used a surgery suit but my training partner has with her Dobie and had good things to say about it, so it should be helpful from what I've heard. We will be thinking of you guys Wednesday and also waiting with you for the "everything went well" report.

Appreciate this @Katyusharocket ā¤ļø

You can still take her for an on leash hike while she's recovering, but I just wouldn't do any hills or obstacles.
The other hard part for us was no food after 6 pm and no water after midnight the night before. The morning of she was saying where is my breakfast???
:tap:
