I got this. Had to accustom Bonnie to it gradually, so she would not be freaked out by the loud crackle and blue flickering snap of the sparks.
Carry it on late afternoon-dusk-night walks in known coyote frequented territory. Its not as bright as my Surefire that I have used in padt to check eye-shine, which has also been an effective "habitation device" to "push coyotes" per CA Fish and Wildlife suggestions.
Haven't had to use the stun light on another dog, yet.

Not sure if they knew I have never seen this man before. We usually walk later and spend most of our time in the woods. I just needed her to walk before the long car ride and my son offered.Wow. I don't even know what to say about that rescue! It seems like the wrong matchup! Did they know that the dog was dog aggressive before it they adopted him out? I would think they would be sure that the person adopting him understood that and was capable of controlling the dog. Did these people have a Rottweiler before?
And the dog was on a retractable leash??I can't even imagine that. Well your son did the right thing. That probably made the dog think twice. But it could have gone the other way too and excited him to bite your son! But trust me, I would have done the same thing! I'm glad he was able to handle the situation. I would be livid just as you are! Don't tangle with my dog or my kids!
When he said his wife wouldn't let him use a prong collar, It would have taken everything in me do not say, grow a pair! She needs to understand that it's not a horrible thing. Used properly, it could save that dog's life.
