You're getting plenty of the exactly right thing done that needs to be done in these moments.I'm not getting anything done.
The way she laid by your foot, I think she's with the exactly right family.
Well Kali's initial reaction seem to be one of happiness. Her tail was going a mile a minute and she was very into who this was. Until she realized she was going home with us!
Yeah, she's 13 years old and not really feeling up to the rambunctiousness of a puppy. Annie just wants to play with her and Kali's like F off! 
It didn't take her long after we got home for her to pretty much ignore her. And the first time we put Annie in the crate she screamed like a banshee! Man, she's got a pair of lungs on her! Kali just walked away like, I'm out of here! So she's kind of staying out of the room that we are in. Really has her nose of a joint, I guess. She sleeps a lot now at her age but I wonder if she misses her view out the window in the kitchen here. And the squirrels! Hopefully, she mellows out a bit and gets used to Annie.
So it's confession time for me.
This is a litter that the breeder didn't put out in public for privacy reasons, but we had a <1 minute accident between Olive and Elroy in January so Annie is one of their pups. As soon as I found out Olive was carrying pups via an ultrasound, I called the breeder and we discussed it in detail. She was immediately supportive and said she would take Olive in to whelp the pups. So Olive headed down to KY in late February and naturally delivered 6 big, beautiful, healthy pups on March 9.
And since she was such a great mom with sooo much milk, she adopted the 2 other pups from the Amora X Selleck litter (the 2 in the thin pink collars) since Amora wasn't producing enough milk.
Yes there are a lot of no-no's since they're still too young for all of their health testing and all, but the pups came out really nice (as you can see) and both of our dogs are going to finish their health testing as soon as they're old enough and the lineage is champion lines. I'm hoping to get some titles on these two as well when we can. The breeder is impressed with them and is keeping one under a co-ownership.
It was the absolute last thing we wanted to happen but the end results were amazing anyway.
I just can't let anyone believe the wrong thing or deceive anyone so I thought I'd get it out there after not saying anything to most people for this long.

I love how she hated the leash. I remember when Kaiser would do that and I would give in and let him run free

And I think Anastasia- Annie is a fantastic name!!
Annie is gonna love growing up on that spread you have. You are a good trainer and will do her well. Will just have to hunker down for a while after the cute puppy stage goes away.

Oh wow, I hadn’t refreshed the page before posting my comment about the leash, so imagine my shock to see this! Then I had to think about how much time Olive and Elroy spend together being so close…I never even thought about both of them being intact! And so young. And she must not have gotten very big because someone would have noticed in the pics of her. Anyway, thanks for sharing
although I don’t think you owed anyone an explanation. So how is Olive doing now? Is she back at home? Has Elroy met the litter?

Yes, she got home on April 9th and is doing well. The transport guy took a special liking to her. This was in Chicago...
Thank you. All of the pups have been spoken for so I'm glad they all have great homes.

LOL, in our experience with these lines, the terrible teens come on early and go away much earlier.

I will enjoy seeing pics of her sitting on Elroy again, if that's still their jam.
I am just excited for everyone! We've been watching the legendary Olive and Elroy be so close and to be honest, anyone should be thrilled to have one of their pups, and I am really looking forward to watching their child grow up!

Will she have a natural acclimation because of the day to day routine of the horses being there or will you have to train discipline to get her to be respectful and have manners?
I would like a summary of how you will do this. Are there some do’s and dont’s?
Are there some horses that just won’t tolerate dogs and try to stomp them? Did Buddy have free access to the horses?

No, we lost our last old man about a year ago.
Appreciate your honesty, and honestly we know accidents happen. Now the Surprise Package litter makes total sense.
Everything should work out, and good to know one puppy is staying "in the family"!
You know, it's interesting because none of my dogs ever chased our horses. When we moved here I still had my first Doberman. Then it was 2 years with a doberman I got from my first dog breeder. And then it was Buddy and then Kali and all of them were perfect with the horses. And the horses were perfect with them. Sometimes the dogs were in the corral with the horses and there was never a problem.
First off, my horses are rather calm and they've never kicked at a person or dog. But I also think it's because the dogs were being good. If the dogs chased the horses I think they would be kicking at them. I think any horse would! I've seen my neighbor next door send her horses out to the pasture and they go running. And her dogs go chasing after them! She has two Aussie dogs. I've seen the horses kick out at them and I don't blame them. I wouldn't want those dogs chasing my horses!
I really didn't do a lot of actual training. I just introduced them kind of like I did with Annie today. Just let them see each other from afar. And like you said, probably just being with them on a day-to-day basis they are exposed to them coming and going at least twice a day. And everything is just nonchalant. If Annie showed any barking or chasing I would correct her. But I'll go slow and monitor their interactions.
For right now, she is too young and inexperienced to be trusted around them. The first morning we were in the barn I put her in the tack room while I took each horse out to the Corral. In the evening, my husband held her while I brought them in. She was a bit wide-eyed watching these monsters walk in
but she didn't freak out. 
This morning I left her crated in the house while I ran the horses out to the pasture. When I'm alone out there she needs to be watched to much at this age so I need to change things up for a while. But it's good exposure for her if I have a helper.
Now the Surprise Package litter makes total sense.
Being terrible at names, I was a bit 
when I realized I needed a kennel name. 
But Surprise Package came pretty quickly after a little thought! A surprise to Jan, Melissa and Me! I thought it was pretty perfect!
