Little dude won’t gain weight.

Just dropped him off at the vet, he lost control of his bladder and began to urinate on himself. Soon as this happened I booked it to the vet and on the way he began to vomit and his shaking increased.

I’m not an expert on vaccines so I took the vets word for it.

They’re holding him at the vet for observations.

His last diarrhea had red mucus in it.

I wish I was there!! This is obviously a vaccine reaction. The Leptospirosis vaccine is extremely hard on their system and my vet only gives it after they have had their final core vaccines and only if the client insists on having it.
Same with the Flu vaccine.
This just pains me to see your puppy go through this when it could have been avoided.

I was sold on the influenza vaccines as him needing them because of the area we live in. I feel pretty bad, I trusted the Vet and i feel like I mistreated him.

Its not your fault. Vets are too eager to give everything all at once and use the guilt trip tactic. Way way too many shots all at once, especially when he wasn't feeling well.

Do you feel comfortable with them handling him now? Always trust your gut...if you don't feel comfortable, take him to a different vet if you can to treat him.

Don’t beat yourself up, this is a learning curve so educate yourself on all the possibilities of any issues when dealing with your pet. Arm yourself with knowledge and let the vet know you have researched studies on vaccines and their potential for causing gut issues, autoimmune issues, skin issues etc.
Vets vaccinate according to what the makers of the vaccine advise and teach them to do.
These vaccine reps push annual vaccines as an income to the practice and encourage vaccinating frequently, even when some vaccines give immunity for 5-7yrs and sometimes for life.
Titers are the way to go after they are a year old.
More people are researching what is healthy for their animals and what isn’t. They are now questioning vaccines and other treatments veterinarians recommend. You have to be an advocate for your animal.
That’s not to say you should question everything your vet does when it comes to emergency care but on things that are pushed by Big Pharma onto a vet to use in their practice. Incentives from these companies (Hill’s, Royal Canin, vaccines, Heart Worm and Flea & Tick prevention etc) are given to the practices for displaying and prescribing their products.
These companies actually teach nutrition to the vet, which is laughable given the poor quality of some prescription foods.
Try to have a good working relationship with your vet so he knows that you want him to go the extra mile in caring for your Doberman properly and that you want it to be the least invasive as possible.

Our vet recommends the Flu vaccine if the pet is traveling, going to dog parks, shows, competitions or anywhere you take your dog that is frequented by other dogs.
The Leptospirosis and Flu vaccine do not prevent the dog from contracting the disease, it just makes the symptoms less severe which to me can be worse by not knowing your dog is ill and causing early treatment to be delayed.

I’m going to do research, I trust them to watch after him. The vet techs they have seem really good and genuine. I’m going to question the vet when I pick him up. I told him he wasn’t feeling well and explained what I had done with the food. He said he’d hold off on the shots then I showed him the feces and he said “oh that’s fine. It’s solid and not watery” then said it was ok to give the shots.

If Vets would take time to research the new studies on vaccinating, it would be great, but they don’t. This vet should have stuck with core vaccines only. Especially since your pup was having gut issues. One day of solid poops is not enough time to say he is in the clear and able to handle multiple vaccines.
Please keep us posted on his progress!

Remain Calm & Carry On...don't show your concern to the puppy, you got this.

... I agree with others .... find yourself a new Vet...and feed your pup chicken and rice till it gets back to normal

....then start reading posts here about shots/vaccines...combo shots are not good and some you might not need....you need to learn what shots your puppy needs and doesn't need...you need to tell your Vet and if he says your wrong, you say explain yourself and then ask the group if he's true or just making money...:thumbsup2:

Spoke to the Vet, they gave him anti diarrheal, anti nausea and some Benadryl. He’s feeling better and hasn’t had a bowel movement since 8am. His energy has returned to him. The vet believes he had an allergic reaction to the vaccines and for his next round will be spaced out.

The vet I spoke to this time was a different one then the one yesterday and seemed to know about vaccines.

@Antman408 you didn’t mistreat him you where misguided by someone you trusted because you where supposed to be able to trust them nothing about it was your fault just take from it a lesson and now you know to research research research even the stuff a good trust worthy source gives you research that as well good information always checks out

He got meds for his diarrhea and upset stomach. He’s also on a bland diet for the next 4 days. Vet said he should clear up in a day or two and be solid like it was in a week.

He hasn’t had diarrhea since this morning at 7am. So it’s been 8 hours since any bowel movement. I’m going to feed him in an hour and mix his meds with his food.

Thanks, I just fed him prescription hill sensitive stomach. He hasn’t gone potty yet but that’s better than usual last few days of having immediate diarrhea. I think he’ll poop in a few hours since I’m sure he expelled everything in his body last night and he didn’t eat in the morning. I mixed his probiotic and then his other med 20 minutes later. I’m going to give him Benadryl towards his bed time since it makes him sleepy.
