My husband left Tara at home at 4pm (all good) I arrived home at 6pm and she’s limping :(

I’m going to keep a very close eye on her for the next 24/48 hours. No exercise and hopefully I’ll see an improvement.

I have yet to check her pad and in between her toes and her nails for any splits or tears. Maybe even a splinter?

Think maybe she jumped down off something and landed wrong?

Quite possibly. I’ve checked the pads thoroughly and can’t find an issue there. She sleeps on my daughters bed whilst we are out. It by any chance she caught sight of a cat or heard voices outside then yes, she probably jumped off the bed and landed badly :(

She’s currently on bed rest..

Oh boy, she does not want to weightbear at all.....

Well shit.....stop worry for Mystic now worry for Vrock.

In humans, we would RICE.

You are doing R- rest.

Could apply I- ice to hip and knee if you isolated the injury to that area.

Could wrap with Ace bandage C- compression.

E- Elevate would be difficult to do.

Hopefully just a strain. Didn’t Kaiser2016 have something like this a month or two ago and it lasted a week??

Poor sweet girl. Have you examined her toes to see if one was jammed. Check the nail beds by manipulating each toe for a pain response, then work up the leg to pastern, stifle then hip, then lumbar region.

Sure hope she bounces back quickly!!
Prayers for Tara!

Aww poor sweet girl. :(

Do you have any ticks in the area or were there any where she came from? She looks exactly like Albert did when his tick borne disease would flare up, even though I know that's a long shot. It can stay dormant for a long time before it shows itself so it wouldn't have to be from a recent incident.

Thanks Jan! I’m not ruling anything out at this point. In over 20 years of dobes I’ve never come across a single tick (low risk area) but I’ll give her a good check over, just to be safe.

That does look like what Kaiser was doing. I think strained iliopsoas was suggested where they slip with one leg out and then hold it up for relief. I believe he slipped on ice as we had plenty in the yard! He did take a few days to get better and resting him was all we did. I like the idea of icing too. If you feel over her leg and find any slightly warmer spots, apply some ice to it. Sometimes the warmth is subtle.

Like I said, tick diseases can lie dormant for years so if that did happen to be the case it could have even been from before she was imported to your country. Most vets can do a simple blood test to check for it but I'm not sure if that's the case where you live if ticks aren't very common.

Oh no! I just hate to see that. Hopefully after she has a couple days rest she'll be good as new.
really hoping it's not a CCL tear. That surgery is a pretty big deal.

feel better soon pretty girl!

How is Tara this morning?

A bit fidgety in the night trying to get comfortable. Andrew carried her out to go loo this morning but she did seem to bear weight on it in the garden but walking back to the house she lifted it the majority of the way.

I’m working today but have asked Andrew to keep me in the loop. So far, I’ve had nothing come through, I think he’s forgotten lol.

I’ll update later when I’m home and can see with my own eyes.

I’m praying it’s not a tear, too @GennyB. I’m hoping it’s just a case of over exertion.

I’ve just come out of the vets. Just popped in and shown them the video and they’ve advised if no improvement in the next 24 hours to take her in and they’ll examine her.

I’ll take note tonight to see if she’s bearing anymore weight on it and go from there.

Thanks for keeping her in your thoughts. It means a lot.
