It's a Dobie thing!

Yup, Buddy's a blanket sucker too. :D I never had a dog that did that before. Not even the first two Dobermans.

OMG, you nailed it! :spit: I've had that happen more than once! One almost made me nose dive! But 'tailgating' is a perfect term! :yatta:

Whining,...:whoop:yes, the whining.

Buddy goes through spurts of licking. I can only assume it's weather/seasonal related. BUT he does stop on command. "NO LICKING !" is our go to command and he's learned I mean business when I say that. :tap:
No licking has become as popular as good night in our house!😂

I haven't looked at all 23 pages of this thread, but regarding blankets... Do any of your Dobes do this? Asha doesn't suckle. She very methodically wraps her blanket around her left front leg and when everything is exactly like she wants it she holds the whole mess in her mouth and is very still with it. She makes about 3 or 4 cribbing movements - you guys who know horses know what I'm talking about - a jerky movement in the neck & jaw, but not a suckle. Then she blisses out for a few minutes. She won't do this on the leg without the blanket or the blanket without the leg, and she won't do it unless I'm settled somewhere, never if I'm still doing something active.

I finally got a photo showing the leg - most of the time it's wrapped much better and photos look like it's just the blanket, but it always has the leg in there.

Kaiser definitely suckles on his blanket, but never a leg wrap. He suckles before sleeping and then he uses the same blanket to create a little nest or sometimes a pillow to lay on. He'll turn around and around until it's just right.
