It's a Dobie thing!

I know what it's like; I had a blue with alopecia affecting most of his trunk and the top of his head. I live in the Southwest, so spent a ton on sunscreen, but he was worth it! I was told by the family of his original owner, who had passed away, that his sister (littermate,) whom they'd also taken in, but who'd been adopted the previous day, was an Albino; some breeder was trying for "novelty" puppies, it seems.

Whenever I read or hear of Isabellas/fawns, a long-ago episode of Cops comes to mind. IIRC: Two teenaged girls called 911 to report that someone was lurking around their house. The cops arrive and announce themselves, (guess the front door wasn't locked?) and one, maybe a rookie, is the first to see the girls come out of a bedroom closet with their dog - - with which he is *fascinated*, her being an Isabella and he loving Dobes but never having seen the color before. He asked them questions for several minutes - about the dog! - until another cop, obviously his superior, arrived and ripped into him for not doing his job.

Reminds me; Sergio was on World's Wildest Police Videos. (The following had nothing to do with his original owner's passing; both were uninjured.) It was a clip of him as a puppy riding in a truck with his owner, who apparently wasn't in the best shape to drive - straight through the front window, and fully into, a 7-Eleven. John Bunnell commented on Sergio's immediately leaping out of the passenger window, and jokingly said something about the fact that as his ears were "bandaged," he was probably trying to avoid another trip to the vet. (I had heard about this incident years earlier from the family; I don't think they knew that the clip was "out there." They'd told me about it as the police had taken S. to the pound, where one of his ears had become untaped. They were fine, but they wanted me to know; such great people.)

We had allergy testing done on Gracie, she was allergic to everything. Had her on allergy injections twice a week for 2 yrs. finally discontinued that therapy as it wasn't helping. Funny thing is when she was going through chemo tx, her hair started growing back. I made her a wet suit 1/8" thick to cover her trunk so she wouldn't get sun burned and I always had a life vest on her whenever we did water sports so that blocked the sun as well. She always had such a can do attitude and was always happy no matter what. She taught me a lot about how to view the world, the people, and everyday situations. She made me a happier person with her positive and forgiving attitude. I miss her so much my heart just breaks everyday without her.

Ok.. i know this has been listed about a billion and one times here but Miesha's butt Nose-poking (of MY butt in particular) has gotten to an all time high! Absolutely anytime i am leaning over the counter to work, eat, (or do anything really) she automatically walks up and i get it right in the crack! I swear she aims to get right smack in the center!!!! I mean, if i needed a rectal exam i would see a proctologist, not Dr. Miesha!!
What is the deal with that?? It is obviously a "breed thing" but im curious what causes these similar behaviors within a breed. All these dogs all over the world that have never met, yet exhibit similar behaviors! I mean Nose-poking?? Dober-lean and all these lovable Dobe things... where does it come from - I've always been so curious about it!

Bogie is the absolute worst for butt darts and walking on my feet, I am talking about every step. :/
Then he tries to wrap his paws around my ankles. Geez
Bacall is the ear licker. Vet said her tongue went in his one ear and came out the other. Lol

Nero likes butts, crotches, and toes. Sigh...

After drinking water he likes to watch the last mouthful fall out of his mouth onto the floor or into the water bowl. Wtf dog?
At least the last mouthful isn't leaked onto your lap. I keep a hand towel handy just in case. Most times I am not quick enough to get out of their way. Lol

Hans has started blocking us from walking where we want to. It's not a dominance thing. He just started doing it at age 7, and he does it in a cute way. It started with him placing himself in known traffic paths in the house, and now he sometimes tries to just block us from walking where we want to go so that he can get attention. He's a smart one! And he's so different now that he's an only dog and we don't have to worry about any aggression in the house.

Anybody else have a path blocking Doberman?

Butt/leg nose poking and blocking in this house, too!

I've always said...If you are not a fan of being in close physical contact with your dog, do not get a Doberman! Lol they will poke and prod you with their noses, nudge you with their heads and paws, and will follow you from room to room. They will rest their heads in your lap...the list is endless :)

As for blocking, I'm so with you @Ingrid H! I'm forever telling him to 'move' or 'back up!'I swear he's made of stone ;) He blocks the passageway and looks just like a solid statue, it's unbelievable! Lol
