Irritated skin after removing stays

How old is he now?

Are you still posting? What with?
He’s 6 months now! Still posting. Backer rod method with leukotape to wrap the bottom and the top, although we have started testing. We left them out for 36 hours the other day and everything. Was fine. They only tilt / curl like that sometimes. Ive attached a few more photos

We were hoping that he was pretty much done. Thoughts?

Every dog is different depending on the cartilage. You can try testing them and if they droop they need to be posted again. If you try the Breathe Right strips and it's enough to pull them down, they aren't ready.

Ohhh….I remember him. Looks like his t-pee’ing ears came around with regular posting. He really does look good- ears and everything else.

The rule of thumb is that the ears need to be posted all the way through teething- which ends at/around 6months. That is also dependent on how thick the ears are and how long the crop is.

But if you had them out for 36hrs straight? then you may be good. Just make damn sure that if you see them bend, waver or break- then they go back up in posts. Especially have to be wary when sleeping at night, CANNOT have him sleep on a bent ear…..

As far as the tips bending in/out, this is very normal. Both of mine did it. As @JanS says, Breathe Rite strips work really well with finger nail polish glue. Look at the link she sent. I could not get them to work on my male, so I just posted another month. I did finally figure out and was successful when it happened with my female. My males tip were flippy for a long time even after I stopped posting- through time they eventually hardened.

Albert's always were when he ran; even into old age. He had really thick cartilage and a long crop and it makes a difference.

The tips are not fully hardened yet so you aren't quite done if you want them to not curve. Almost there! Keep posting or use breathe rights.

I used the largest they had to offer with nail polish glue.

I believe that I used my electric razor (Phillips One Blade) to shave inner ear for a cleaner stick and not having to worry about pulling off hair.

Worked very well my second time around…user error for the 1st time for sure.

I do it this way too since the tape in the link really isn't necessary
