11month Doberman, ear question!

Hi all,
Checking in again, thoughts on this right ear of my boy? We tape his ears and never leave them down for more than 1hr. His left ear I believe is good now, but that left ear makes me nervous. I don’t understand or can see anything that means anything to me when I look at his ears, but any advice or guidance is appreciated. Like does his cartilage look strong? Is there a weird fold? Just keep taking and I should be good between 1-1.5yr?

I post one picture of freshly removed tape, and his left ear fell after 1hr which is what it looked like in the ones where it’s down.

I would keep going. If it's falling in an hour, try to get them back up before then so it doesn't have a chance to fall.

I am not sure of your history with him....are you the one who had his ears cropped, or did you get him already cropped? You say "taping"...do you mean posting? I would keep posting, and as Jan said; don't wait for the ear to fall....even if it appears to be 'up', make sure you just let it air out for no more than 15 minutes, and get that ear back up. It may take a little longer because of his age; but if you keep at it, his ear should stand.

I bet this type of issue is posted a lot. My girls ears were fine till about a month ago and she turned 1 year old. I'm back posting and waiting to see if the one ear improves. First her right ear was not standing well so I posted it 3 weeks now its fine. So hopefully starting on her left ear it will do the same

Yeah…ears can be frustrating because you want it to be done and over. Folks tend to test them too much and they fall because they are not strong and ready.

You just have to be persistent and consistent. Keep going!! You are at the end of the tunnel. Post for another two weeks solid and then test. But when testing, if you see an inkling of weakness, then immediately they go back up.

thanks. I have had dobermans over 50 years or so. But never a long ear. You can teach an ole girl a new trick. :D Photo is Kira not much bigger then my boston terrier and her ears were just fine. :D
