Introducing Clancy

Are you going to do a DNA test for fun? I just love his look and his eyes in that middle picture are striking! The back shape is typical of most sighthounds.
Favorite ice breaker at dog park or beach, elsewhere to chat..."what mix is she? Looks like 100% "what-a-good dog" for sure!"

@Ravenbird think you are right...
Especially if she is sorta shy, sweet, like the race-track greyhound rescues we see around here. The super fast zoomies are a hint...❤️

Yes, that's how all the greyhounds were that I knew. Maybe I have old paper photos, we use to ride the horses with greyhounds way back in the day.

I hadn't thought of sighthound and it might fit. I might have to find out one day. Meantime we'll see what character he develops for more clues. 😂 I know he is much lighter on his feet than Jazz was. Clydesdale galloping fit her but Clancy sort of dances across the ground and springs over me onto his place on the bed. A bit startling to look up at a dog hovering over you looking down past all those legs!

That is a very obstinate intense look right there.

The Doberman look with the white patch really throws me off- definitely unique in its own right.

I was thinking greyhound or whippet. Just couldn't think of it for some reason. I see them all the time at lure courseing
That's what I was thinking too but couldn't think of it either yesterday. My friend has an IG and he has the same build, but in a way smaller package than a Whippet or Greyhound. .

His hair is another clue. It's definitely longer and softer than a Dobe. Jazz had a sleek single coat. Clancy's is longer and softer with some undercoat. More short haired Border Collie than whippet or Greyhound, but there is probably what we call Heinz Variety parentage. He might only be 1/4 Dobe. He certainly missed having the Dober whine, and no back chat yet. 🤞

I had a border cross once- very smart and a different way of communicating than a dobe, a shorter glance checking in as if looking for direction, then on his way, to do the job.

Bonnie's very direct and persistent gazs is like that one picture. Almost like "c'mon, hurry it up" giving me the clue and wondering why I am so slow on the uptake...;)

Back chat...grumbles, etc.
Def more in the two dobes, altho some of same in the rhodie cross...stubborn!

I guess in the end it doesn't really matter what mix he is. He's the right mix for you. ;)
Admittedly it is fun to try to figure out though.

I think we always get the dog we need, and Clancy is such a loving pup who deserves the best. I have been missing having a real purpose, as well as missing having a companion. If I can give the little guy the confidence he needs to enjoy life to the full it will make me very happy! He already gives me some good laughs and happy moments. ☺️
