First heat

The vulva can take a while to return to normal, sometimes Ashas does not reduce to normal for another 30 days or more because she tends to run through mild false pregnancy. Once out of heat, you dog will not be receptive to dogs even if it's still swollen. And remember, there are usually only a few days in the entire period that they are receptive/able to conceive and if her first day of bleeding was July 1, that should be well past her now.

Sorry, that just sounded funny. Or maybe alarming. LOL especially for a mom that's going to go through her dog's first heat somebody soon.

And people worry about a picture of an intact male!

So since this is your dog's first heat what can you say that was different throughout the whole process? I mean as far as your dogs personality. I think you said she was more tired? And a little more clingy? Just interested in what you may have observed.

Haha it’s shrunk, but it’s definitely larger than normal still. Poor girl Also, her nipples are still much larger and I wonder if they’ll go down at all

The first 2 weeks she was sleepier and napped more. Most definitely became a cuddle bug and still is open to cuddle more, which I enjoy. I will even nap with her sometimes during the day and she will cuddle She did become more clingy with me and still is, but I wonder if that is her maturing and following me around now. Never was she snappy or irritable at all with anyone in the family. She’s a love with my husband and two boys, pure excitement when she sees them since my husband works all day and boys come and go.
She’s become super attached to my oldest sons friend, I almost wonder if she has a crush lol, she follows him all over when he’s here. I’ll look over and she’ll be sitting next to him ears down just dying for attention. Haha so cute.

A little bit slower on walks for the first 2 weeks of bleeding, so we only did 30 mins in the am and she sniffed a lot. Energy seemed to come back around week 3.

Like @Ravenbird said not bad at all even when we were away. She’d wear her pants and got used to them which kept things contained. Otherwise we’d walk without her pants and no issues with dogs at all around here or when away. I did buy animal pepper spray, but we live in an area where I’m sure most dogs are spayed/netured even in the areas we vacationed no issues at all. I did watch her 24/7 and still am until 8/1.

In many cases they don't but that's just in our experience.
