Feeling frustrated with Mercy's ears.

I posted Mercy's ears until she was a year old. She is now 14 months, we have been doing breathrite's for the last 2 months. Her ears look good with the breathrite's, problem is the right one flops without the breathrite's. When doing full posts she always seemed to have irratation. We also tried doing half posts for awhile. So I'm wondering if I just keep doing breathrite's will her ears get better. I like the breathrite's, they are quick, easy and she doesn't seem to bother them.I forgot to mention she has a Showcut that measures 5 inches.

I would keep going. Dauntless was posted for what seemed like forever because she has the long show crop. Candor was much easier because she has a medium crop. A long show crop can be very challenging. I have seen ears posted as long as 18mos to 2 yrs for Conformation dogs! Hang in there!

Thanks, that's kind of what I was thinking, just wanted some others thoughts. Looking back I probably shouldn't have requested the Showcut. Since our boy Preacher has a Showcut I just thought it would be nice if they matched.

I agree to keep going with regular posts. Do you have any photos of it drooping without posts in?
We are hesitant about going back to full posts. She has always had problems with irratation. Sometimes irratation in the ear canals, sometimes on the back of the ears. The last time was really bad, we decided she must be alergic to either the Coviden tape or the Unisolve or both. She has done much better with the breathrite's. We did try full posts using hypoalergenic tape. It worked better but she tore the posts out in just a couple days. Breathrite's are the only thing she has tolerated well. I watch her throughout the day and usually her ears are up. At this point I think I am going to stick with the breathrite's.

As long as the bases are strong that should be fine.

Keep in mind that there is no guarantee that more posting will work. If you continue to post and her one ear still flops when you are done...then she will just have a little more "cute" character! A floppy ear isn't the end of the world! She will be adorable regardless! I think Mercy will strut her stuff no matter what! Keep trying!

Since she tolerates the breathrite's well I will keep doing those long term and hope for the best.

I think we did breath right strips for a few months after Prada was a year old. At the end it was only one ear that needed it. We didn’t think they would ever stand. Just be diligent keeping them up. I won’t do another show crop. I like the 3”-4” crop.

I don’t understand where the ear is flopping, bottom, middle, tip?

Is the ear bending?

This is what I am hoping you have going on- just bending of the ears.

I'm the same way, this our last Show crop. We went back to 1/2 posts about a month ago. I have
found a system that seems to be working pretty good. She will be 16 months Sept 13th. Im going to try and keep her posted until 18 months then do breathrite's and see how she looks. Show Crop is beautiful but causes me to much stress.

Did the breathrite strips work? Our 7 and a half month girl has one ear that flops. She can make it stand fully if she’s out for a walk or gets interested in something. Full posts irritate her ears and she continually shakes her head and scratches at them.

I did the breathrite's for a few weeks until I figured out another way. Mercy never did like full posts but she will tolerate 1/2 posts. I finally figured out her irration was caused by the Coviden tape we were using. I started backwrapping with 3m hypoalergenic breathable tape. It's not as sticky as Coviden so here is what I do. I make sure only the 3m touches her. Once I have the posts on her using only 3m then I go back over them with Coviden. By doing this the posts will stay in place, otherwise they would come loose.I also use Coviden tape for her bridge placing the ears at 11 and 1 o'clock. I clean and repost her ears every 4 to 5 days. If we continue to avoid getting sores I plan on posting until mid Nov. At that time I will switch to breathrite's and see how she is doing. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
