DPCA National 2024

Is anyone here planning to attend the National in Tennessee this fall? It’s not too far from me so I’m hoping I can make it!

It may be a silly question, but I haven’t seen the answer anywhere. Is anyone able to enter in the events or do you need to be invited? Depending on where we are in regards to training by then, I’m considering entering Remy in rally, scentwork (if it’s offered again) and possibly the WAE since he’ll be old enough.

Anyone can enter! It's just like any trial, you can earn Qs and earn titles! Plus get special DPCA National ribbons/rosettes and get to take a podium picture with the national placard and background. A very special moment! If you want to guarantee finishing your title there often times people will earn a Q or two at home and leave the last Q or two to earn at National.

Derek and I plan to be there along with a bunch of other Melrae and Soluna dobe folks! It would be awesome to meet you and Remy and hang out!!

I wouldn't mind going there either just to observe and meet people. Does anyone remember the dates?

That’s a great idea!

Yes, that would be awesome! 😁

If I go I'd definitely fly. Only problem with that is you're stuck without a vehicle unless you rent one.
The national is all on site of the hotel so that'll be nice! Only thing I think you wouldn't be able to access off site would be agility and obviously food but I'm sure others would have room for carpooling or can always use an Uber.

Oh really? That would be perfect and that's how our fish conventions are. When I went to the UDC Nationals in Denver stuff was scattered all over the place and quite far from any hotels. I had rented an SUV there but started riding with one of our members after he got there. The traffic in that city is horrible...

It looks like all of the rooms are already booked so you need to get on a waiting list.

Yeah, they booked like the first few days... From what I've read, they suggest to get on it and it's highly likely you will get a room. People booked before even confirming plans. Many inevitably will have to cancel when it gets closer.

I’m assuming the hotel reservation is for the week? I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to go yet, although I’m really hoping I can attend the whole thing!
LOL, I'd love to join the fun but it's a 26 hour drive one way.
Jeez, I’m thankful it’s only about 6 hours from me, which isn’t too bad considering most regular shows are 3-5 hours away!

I believe you can do by the night. Up to 4 dogs so could split with someone.
Oh okay, maybe I should get on the list then! I was thinking I would need to find an Airbnb or another hotel nearby, but I would prefer to stay right there if I could.

Yes, I would just go for a few days myself. Hubby has a lot going on in the fall so I don't want to tie him down with the dogs too long. I also want to get Elroy's health testing done at the end of September so that will mean a trip to the U.

I checked flight prices too and it's stupid expensive so I'll spend my money on other things, as nice as it would have been. Nashville was much more affordable but that's still at least 4 hours from the show site. Driving would be over 18 hours so that's out for me too.
