Doberman head and body shapes?

'm guessing she's going to be very similar to Demelza body wise, even though their heads might be a little different. She was only 10 months here but I'm sure you can see similarities.

You're probably right and that pic is a good example of what I'm talking about when I say they like 'em beefy in Europe. Demelza is a good weight in that pic. Take a look at Valencia, she's a bit chunky for my taste.
Another thing this pic says to me is euros can have tuck up. Most euros lose it because they are over weight in IMHO.

Wait, so why is it harder for a Euro to have his mouth closed? I didn't know this was a thing although I have noticed most Euro dobie pics I have seen are with their mouths open! What is the reason behind this? Btw, beautiful dogs :)
A while back, we talked about this and it's interesting.

I think it's just a matter of, for photos, people with North American, or other types of Doberman and who are sort of following the conformation way of doing things here like to stack their Dobermans one way (head up high, leash held mostly up toward the sky, and mouth closed.) It's more of a refined pose.

Those with European Dobermanns and who are trying to follow that type of convention stack their Dobes another way (Dobe leaning forward into the leash tension and tending to be panting). It's more of a power pose to showcase strength and imposing build. The mouth open tends to make the face look more substantial as well.

Unless I'm missing something, it's not that N/A-type Dobes pant less than Euro Dobes. Am I missing something, anyone?

If you look at the European stack they want their mouths open. I think it's to show the jaw but I'm not sure. Ares mouth is almost always open because of exercise and that's normally when I talk pics cuz we're out and about :)

I don't necessarily think it's a trait between one and the other but it's more appealing to have the mouth open for Euros and the mouth closed for Americans. I know some people will exercise their Euros before a photo shoot or show so the mouth is open.

Personally, I admire beefy dogs. At the same time I certainly want a Doberman to retain the Doberman look which is streamlined, athletic and chiseled. I know the standard says no excess of muscle or bone and I like that; but I don't mind if my Dobe has some bulging muscles to a certain extent.

Beefy is one thing, fat is another. Most are just over weight and that gives any muscle a boost.
From what you say, I think Oji is hurt by his narrow chest. While Drake is lacking in fore chest, he at least has some girth which helps give him a more substantial look.
I think as far as his muscle development, it helps that he gets to run the levy's at the farm.
I also think Drake nails the streamlined athletic look. I'll have to look for some pics that show that a little better.

I can get the mouth closed, but I can't a pic of Vader standing still. He just doesn't!

Wow! He's got some serious long hair. In the pics where you only see his coat, he looks like a Labrador. How's the shedding? If I were you I'd be looking into a zoom groom and daily brushing to keep the shedding under control.
