Common dog breeds from the 80's you don't see anymore?

This was way too long and ad ridden to copy and past but I see most of these breeds all the time; especially the Doberman. LOL

The dog pictured for the Irish setting is not an Irish setter, but looks like a long-haired dachshund. The pic of the fox terrier is simply pathetic, it's so bad! And the pic of the Norwegian Elkhound is not a Norwegian Elkhound. Looks more like a newer accepted AKC breed, but I can't remember the name of it.

Bulldogs are still immensely popular. And I don't believe at least several of those breeds in the article were ever "popular" in the first place--afghans and borzoi come to mind. Even in lure coursing back in the late 80s/early 90s, I didn't see many of them, esp. afghans.

I still see both and there is a beautiful Silken Windhound that comes to our shows.
I agree about the photo of the Irish Setter looking pathetic. We have one lady who comes to the shows from Canada and her dogs are gorgeous.

I totally agree. I think the "elkhound" pictured is a Swedish Valhund, at least looks to me. The popularity of breeds come and go, wondering what the criteria was for this article? I've never seen a Borzoi outside of a showring, seriously, were never popular in my realm, maybe in Russia though? The fact that several of the pictures are not even of the breeds that they are writing about it, means that it's poorly written, poorly researched, and possibly AI generated, and garbage. That's my 2 cents.

That was it--Swedish valhund. I couldn't remember exactly what dog, just knew it was a Scandanavian one.
