We are! I just share with family and friends.
I didn't really want chickens in the first place. But I lost that battle. When we did get them, I found them to be really fun. So I started doing research and learned that happy hens lay more eggs. I make then special treats and they even have "toys" because a bored hen is not a happy hen.
BTW, I realize that if you any doubts that I was crazy, I have just confirmed it. I am ok with that, I like taking care of my hens.

I keep trying to talk my mother into having some chickens because of how easy they are to care for. I would but we obviously don't have the space for it and I think probably would be kicked out of the complex if we did. 
My dad and I finally won her over in having a garden this year, so it's a start in homesteading.

We can't have everything in life but we sure can enjoy things through each other! 
I was thinking it might the weather and the fact that I just planted some flower seeds and haven't let them out much to eat them. They love to scratch up EVERYTHING in one of my flower beds. They may slow down because they are 2 now.

The snag is the wife is VeRy not into having chickens,even though I'm the one that would be doing the feeding,poop detail,the eventual preparation for the shake and bake bag, rotating chickens and Daisy out back,etc.
I wouldn't worry about Rocky,he's used to them or was before he came here anyway.Daisy I wouldn't trust with them,prey drive is too strong and chicken are too much fun to chase and too delicious.
I keep working on it though,getting chickens that is.Eventually she'll cave in.

I wasn't really into having chicken. Mostly because I knew that in the end I would be the one to take care of them. But I have learned that sometimes you just have to pick tour battles. I actually love my chickens. They are so full of personality and very entertaining to have around. We keep ours in a coup, a very nice one I might add. They are given a chance to run around the backyard everyday. We just put a sign up that say no dogs have to stay in because the chicks are out. I hope you can get some hens someday, they really are a ton of fun and I guarantee you won't find better eggs anywhere. And when Obama crashes our country, you'll have at least something to eat.

I keep telling her it would be easy,we even have a place half built,the kids old play house.
It looks like crap now,it's old and we just ripped about 8 years growth of ivy off it.
A new coat of paint,nail the trim back on,build a little ladder to that window,there's windows on the left and right side too,none on the back wall.Maybe build a caged area outside of it too?I dunno.I guess I need to plan it out,set up a room in Palm Springs or Vegas on a girls weekend away and just build it and toss a couple of birds in there.

I've thought it would be cool to have one.
Around the corner from a shop I worked at off and on for years in a very "ranchy" typed area that surrounded it I drove by this one house every day.
They had a gated yard,clearly separating front yard from side and back yards,yet the gate was always open.They had a dog and a Pygmy goat.Actually they had chickens and roosters too so that makes this post back on topic
That goat and the dog (a pitbull) were best buds.Always hanging out together out front and I have to say in all those years I never saw them off property.People walking past barely got a look to even acknowledge their existence.
Frankly I'm not sure if I would be more intimidated by the dog or the horned goat?
They were about the same size.As a team,well lets just say I bet that house was never broken into

IMO definitely an outdoor area. Chickens love to get in and scratch the ground for bugs, worms even love to eat the grass. They like to dust so I put a large shallow bowl down for them. It's got some dirt and some diatomaceous earth for then to dust with.
I think your play house is perfect. Here's a link to a pretty good place to learn. http://www.backyardchickens.com/ They have good info on what hens need and like. I think it will give you some good ideas on how to redesign your play house for a happy hen house. Remember, happy hens lay more eggs!
