ABUSED DOBERMAN!!

There was a man in Louisiana who is locked up for senselessly choking his ex girlfriend’s 3 year old Doberman pinscher. In the video, you can hear her crying behind the door and telling him to stop. I feel like if that was me behind the door, I would have gone out with a baseball bat and something to choke him with too what are your thoughts ?? Poor dog!!!!!

Yeah, that’s not too far from me. My daughters sent me that video and I cringed and got seriously angry watching it.

This guy is the ex of this girl and he had been very abusive to her. So he steals her beautiful red Doberman from her moms house and goes to her apartment. She has a RING doorbell and is recording him. He demands she opens her door and when she refuses he abuses her Doberman in front of her watching.

She posted the video on Facebook asking for help. Facebook viewers go fricking nuts and start cyberstalking this guy. I think something like 45mins later, Slidell Police have him in custody and the beautiful red is safe in owners hands.

I got bashed by some of the Facebook viewers because I posted to her that if she was in a difficult situation and needed someone to take care of her Doberman, that I have a 2.5y/o male that would love to have a female companion. Yeah, a lot of Facebookers took offense at my post....and that’s why I don’t do Facebook- too many judgmental Karen’s.

I'm assuming the dog came out of this OK? Why didn't she just call the cops and show them the video instead of FB? That said, maybe that's what she did & the fb post came later, just to show the world what a jerk he is. It was kind of you @Ddski5 to offer a place for the dog since you are close by. Hope this guy does some serious jail time and has a lifetime ban on ever owning a pet of any kind. These kind of people need a scarlet letter tattooed on their forehead.

I truly wish that our pets would be afforded the very same "self defense" precautions we enjoy for ourselves and our loved ones. Either that, or make animal cruelty a "forcible felony" as are other crimes in FL, for which the use (or threatened use) of deadly force is authorized. I don't believe it is, currently, here in FL.

I couldn't bring myself to watch the video. People are down right crazy. I know everyone reacts differently in situations, and it's hard to say she should have done xyz....... that being said I know I would have been out there. My red boy is my baby and I would ignorantly step in the line of danger to try to protect him. One time I caught my ex on camera grab my guy by the collar and pin him down on his dog bed. I was calling him so damn fast and freaking out, I was shaking. He tried to give me some story about how he was spazing out and thought something was wrong so he was pining him to stop him and "check" him out but I didn't buy it.

I do know for us in Maine, animal abuse can easily fall into the felony level criminal wise.

But is "use (or threatened use) of deadly force" authorized when one witnesses such a felony in progress? THere are like 15-20 specific felonies in Florida that are classified as "forcible" and for which deadly force (threatened or actual) is authorized, including:

Yeah, some snowflake Karen got Facebook stupid. She said, “WTF, the dog was stolen, not trying to be rehomed.”
I told her to calm her nerves, explained that I have a Doberman and that I was only offering to help if the situation was too much for the owner. It got kind of funny because some folks went to her defense, the people who defended me all had Dobermans in their avatar picture.

Yeah, that has me wondering too.
I mean, our Dobermans are part of our family right? We buy them the best food, take them to the doctor when sick, cry and worry for them, train and educate them to be the best citizens in society....

So, if a human is endangering one of our Dobermans, immediate danger.....do we not have the right to prevent mortal harm to our beloved Dobermans??

If you watch that video, after seeing him hang the Doberman, I would have an extremely hard time not opening the door and double tapping him down.

With the harsh video provided as evidence to the judge/court, I wonder if there would be any leniency for the owner.

Hmmmm, should would like to pose this video and question to a judge and see what he says.

Right now I am giving the video a miss too. Some things just can't be unseen and stay to haunt us. And I also agree that my instincts would probably lead to my injury in defense of my dog! But then I've never been in a physically abusive situation and that might make a huge difference to confidence/foolhardy levels.

In Australia the laws are just too lenient in regards to animal cruelty, and defending ourselves is also a bit iffy with the law. If you accidentally tripped an offender and they fell, hit their head and died you might just about get away with it, but if you clouted them with a lump of wood you would probably go for manslaughter!

I can't watch it because, well, I know I'd want to hang the guy too and no need getting myself all worked up when I can't! I'm worked up just reading all this. Like most of us, I feel I would immediately go to my dogs defense! But I've also never been in an abusive relationship or hit by a man. I don't think I'd 'win' if I opened the door. But I may do it anyway to get him to release my dog. I could not stand by and watch that. But AFTER I called 911.

He would not only be an ex boyfriend, he would be ex alive.

I would come out of the closet with a belt, tie or some other potential weapon and this skeeve would get the full force of my rage.
I don’t allow anyone to correct or give commands to my two unless it’s the trainer.
God help the person that tries to harm mine. Been there with that BS and won’t hesitate to fight for them and myself again.

In this case, too bad the Dobe didn’t bite the prick’s face off. I agree that this won’t be the last time she has an encounter with this sicko. Crazy people are scary. Before he hangs the dog, she does tell him she called 911, so at least help was on the way. The video then switched from the doorbell footage to the family collecting the dog. Her name is Ruby! She looks to be ok. I hope I’m never in this situation because I know the fight or flight response kicks in to protect your dog, but if that creep chokes a dog, what do you think he would do to a woman?

Re the judgey Karens on FB, what’s wrong with someone offering to help out with a dog? I mean, the Doberman was at her mother’s place, and she seems to have a couple of kids, maybe she would want some help? It’s better to know that there are options out there.
