I'm a first time Dobe owner so can't give too much advice but my Zeus is going on 22 months and we still feed him about 3 cups in the morning and 3 at night. Instead of doing the "bowl full" at night try to split it to 2 or even 3 feedings.
Best of luck!
Awesome work @GennyB & @C908 !!!! I could totally see myself doing stuff like this when I'm retired...except I think I'd have a hard time not wanting to adopt them myself!!!
Gives me joy there are still great people in this world!!! Cud dos to you guys on a job greatly done!!
I can see having only one dog and being able to spoil just the one. However, I have to say our rescue pit/chow/lab/xxx has about one bad health condition from every breed and he was on the steady decline for some time. We just kept him comfortable and spoiled the hell out of him whenever we...
I would definitely leave them down if they aren't fully healed then. @Lizbeli Posted a good picture of how much tape to use. Bridge between if necessary but keep bridge lower to the head. Also, if it's a long crop you may need a few more strips depending on ear length.
Search out the posting...
Pictures would help, however if the incisions have not fully healed I would keep the tape off of them and leave the ears down until they do. Our vet wrapped and posted Zeus's ears the day after cropping them. Every time we would change the posts and pull all the tape off it would rip off the...
Agreed with too much stuff on the ears. Those babies need to breath in order to heal and air flow will keep them from stinking as well. Ears look good though!! My wife and I used the "backer-rod" method but substituted the backer-rod for tampons lol. Search on this site for other methods...
Ahh well, I guess after further examination the markings are different. That's what I get for owning a red boy.
At least I helped with finding the picture lol:spit:
Totally agree with this! It has been done with all of my dogs from the start. I have toddlers running around and the last thing I want is them to strike curiosity about the dogs food and reach out towards the bowl, food, etc...
Just the thought terrifies me..
Our breeder had their pups on 4health and we've kept Zeus on it ever since. Our rescue whom we have had and Zeus have not had any issues with it. My honest opinion is... if I had the time, energy, funds to try the raw diet I would. However, since being a little child our dogs were always fed...
Same as @LifeofRubie .. only left then down long enough to clean, dry and repost. We posted through about 9-10 months just to be safe.
Welcome from Michigan and best of luck. LOTS of great info on here!!
Our male red boy had the same issue. Come to find out it was from himself scratching or nipping at his skin due to boredom. My wife or I would catch him doing so and re-direct. It was usually with his tug or a ball, he will NEVER turn down a game of fetch. Didn't realize if they weren't...
Agreed. Crate training is the way to go!! There are toooo many variables that could come into play with being left outside. Strangers walking by, other animals, the weather, objects being thrown into the yard, something being swallowed/lodged, them escaping or even being taken at a young age...
