My new pup was born Feb. 12!

Just under 12 hours at home and they are now the Lean Machine and the Chunky Monkey. I walked into the bathroom at 5 am and heard a very threatening low growl in the dark. Turned on the light to see that Chunky Monkey had bailed from the bed and was laying on the bath rug in Thor's old nighttime spot. I took her outside and now we are all back in the bed together. At this point she is laying here like she knows she belongs.

Toby is taking her under his wing. He does seem to love her but he also established earlier this morning that shenanigans will not be tolerated. Katyusha is still keeping some distance but isn't hateful towards her. Just no cuddling yet like Toby.20240425_083010.jpg

I wanted to get back to the hint I dropped in anther thread a while back and some of you called me out on it  and we ended up jacking the thread. Back then there were enough uncertainties to just say "probably".

A lot has gelled since then. Now I can say it out loud.

My red Euro girl was born Feb. 12! I am between 2 names, Zastava or Dasha. Just waiting for the day I can go pick her up in late April! This is my first Euro, or known Euro, anyway. (I have come to suspect that Katyusha is a Euro mix at least a little, with mostly American traits, but, I digress) If anyone has stories of what they did the first days/weeks bringing their Euro home, what worked well, or what they would do differently, I will be paying attention, as the DCF community has led me to believe the Euros are a whole other level.
Congrats!!! Having only ever had Euros I don't know the difference (currently have a 2.5 yr old and a 4 month old I am sure you are going to do great! I will say they are as you probably know smart as whips and I think they hit the teenage years quicker then any other breed I have had! Just don't let her get away with anything as a sweet little puppy that you don't want her to do as an adult This is something I always have to remind myself lol also start training asap. Love both name choices but I am partial to Zastava. Have fun!

Sasha is 3/4 Euro. 73# at 2 yrs old. She knows so many words, we are spelling things half the time now. She is our first Dobe, whip smart and stubborn to the extreme. As a pup, I feared she was posessed. She would glaze over and jump and bite and …it was crazy. She is collar savy; knows what collar does what. She adores my husband and will stare at him adoringly for hours in the evening. She loves me when she is hungry or when she wants to go to bed. To this day, she MUST run and frisbee nearly daily. Flirt pole was a good toy when she was younger. No matter what command she knows, and she knows them all, she might choose to say no. She is constant, and we love every minute of it. She loves to travel too, and early on we learned to take her with us, even just for a drive. The mental stimulation helps tire them. Puzzle toys, she just chews up. Crate training saved us. Also, I feel strongly that early bonding is very important. I would be conscious of her spending time with you and not always with the other dogs. In the grand scheme of things, I know nothing, but I do know she is the best dog we have ever had, and I pray she lives many years to come. Congrats!
HI! I am new here and as I was reading your post I saw the "must play Frisbee everyday" I have one like this he loves his frisbee and always has this is his number one choice for exercise

This just reminds me once again how different Dobermans can be from each other. I brought Asha home at 10 weeks and she was a relentless terror right off the bat. A bed or couch would have been impossible to manage.

HI! I am new here
Welcome from Minnesota! Glad you're here! We like pictures!
She is just adorable and it looks like she's settling in nicely!
Thank you! She is settling in quite nicely! Katyusha is slowly getting physically closer to her as the day goes on. I think they will end up as the best of sisters, as far as I can tell so far thier personalities and energies really match.

She is going for a checkup at 1:45 today. I texted the clinic to let them know she's devastatingly cute, so they have been warned!

For now she just had lunch and is taking a nap.

You are so right! Atlas is 2.5 and when we brought him home at about 12 weeks he had what I call the To much gene right off the bat lol he cannot do anything just a little! Fast forward to Apollo who is currently 16 weeks we got him at 12 weeks he is calm slept in his crate through the night the day I got him ( Atlas cried like he was being killed for Two weeks!) and is very mellow A 180 difference from his big brother ! Love em both more then anything!!! And I am happy to say that Atlas really seems to enjoy having a playmate

It took about 2 weeks for Atlas to warm up to Apollo now they are buddies zooming and Wrestling around the house! I imagine this is going to be quite a sight when Apollo is grown LOL I bet they will be the best of sisters soon!

Awww Beautiful Pup and Great Name! Do you think you will call her Tava?
Tava is one option. Honestly I've been calling her Malishka quite a bit (Russian for baby-girl). Honestly not sure where all the things she will be called will end up! I'm sure I'll find more nicknames for her as we go.
Everyone has such beautiful Dobes!
Yours are beautiful too! Happy to see them! Your story of them growing to love each other is useful for me to read right now too, thank you for it!

Ohhh just wait too... it always takes a bit for them to get settled in at their new home and their true personalities to come out

I call Apollo Boogie, Big Boy LOL They all seem to end up with multiple names! Atlas is Buddo Atey and Atsey that one came from our granddaughter who could not say Atlas and it stuck!
Glad I could help a bit I know I was worried at first! and so hoping they were going to like each other! I am amazed at how gentle Atlas is with the pup they wrestle but in such a way so not to hurt
Thanks for the compliment! I think they are handsome but I might be a bit biased LOL I am happy to follow your pup growing its so fun, do you have any specific training plans? Scent, bite agility ? I have seen a lot of people doing the scent competitions lately and boy the Dobes are good at it! Halve a friend who's dobe just won some awards in scent

nothing set in stone with that yet, I will watch her and try to determine what she really loves to do first. That's how my first Doberman became a therapy dog. She really likes older people in the assisted living facilities and university students, so we are on that journey now. We do have rally good agility equipment at our dog park, we will see if she likes it when she is old enough. I have become a firm believer in making sure my dobies all have Canine Good Citizen, though, so we will tackle that one for sure, and build from there.

I agree Apollo has a wonderful calm temperament and like attention from Children as well as adults and stays very calm so far so I am working on Canine good citizen with him as I would love for him to visit nursing homes etc. Atlas has the too much gene and loves everyone to much lol so I am working on agility with him as he is more active. It will be fun to see what she loves to do
