So the other day I saw my first coyote! I was outside cleaning horse stalls with Annie. I usually don't like to take her out with me while I do that since I can't keep my eye on her all the time. But I only had one left to do and she hadn't been out for a while so I took her out with me. I just keep stopping to check on her.
So this day I thought I heard my neighbors dogs barking which made me step to the door to check for her. I look to my right (by the neighbor with the white fencing) and I see what looked like she chased a cat up our tree! I'm like what the heck? Where did he come from? It looked like a orange cat. I don't know anybody that's got an orange cat. But I know there are a couple of strays around.
In any event, as I'm looking at her, out of the corner of my eye I see something in my pasture! The horses were looking at it too and I realized it was a coyote! In this video capture you can only see his legs through the fence.

A very small coyote. Almost half of Annie's size. I'm quick on the draw and getting my phone in camera mode. Two quick presses on a button and it's on.

I just wanted to make sure I got anything on camera that might happen.
So Annie had her e-collar on and I am excitedly calling her and pressing the buttons! I didn't know really what to expect if she saw it and I was a little afraid of having control of her. She came to me but on her way over she saw it in the pasture! This is her standing at the fence after she came by me.

These are just video captures and not good quality because I was all over the place! Trying to take video, trying to call her, trying to run and get a firearm. But she did very well coming to me when I called her. Because come to find out later that the e-collar remote was not even on!
So first she came across the property to the pasture and stood there looking at him. Then I kept calling her and we went around the Corral to get into the barn and as we did she was going to keep going around the other side to where the coyote was heading. But I was yelling at her to come and she did.

I got her into my tack room and locked her in and I went out to take a shot at him. Wasn't necessarily trying to kill him but I certainly wanted to scare the crap out of him. And I did. He flew into the trees on my neighbor's property and I haven't seen him since.
