Backyard Chickens?

I plan on getting chickens when I get to Roatán.
I don’t think I will have a selection of different breeds but I designed a totally enclosed safe place for them to have and stole some of @Rits designs for the coop.
I am sure I will have a ton of questions but for now it’s in the design stage until we get there.

At 11 years old she is starting to look a little rough but she is a spry old gal. Seen here running for her favorite spot under the bird feeders.

Becky, my Buckeye hen is 3 years old and started growing spurs!!! I've heard hens can do this, but usually when there is no rooster in the flock (there is) and if they are top hen (she isn't). She is laying on a regular basis too. I'll just chalk it up as a curiosity.
I don't know why but that name cracks me up.
It might crack you up more to know how the name happened... I got a variety pack of chicks, 8 chicks, 8 different breeds, stuck them under a broody hen (another long story) but they all did well. Of course I have to name them and the only way I could remember 8 names was to look at the breed and the name started with the same letter as the breed. So Becky Buckeye, Cocoa the Cuckoo Maran, Edith the Egyptian Fayomi, etc etc. Whatever it takes, right?I don't know why but that name cracks me up.
Sad day here. We lost Lucy, my favorite hen today. 
Not sure what happened. She seemed okay last night. I was out with the girls for about an hour or so then it got dark. Lucy did go in to roost before the others but I didn't notice anything 'off'. I went out this morning with some fodder and warm oatmeal because it has turned chilly here. I found her gone

I love leftover fall pumpkins because they are cheap and my chickens love em!

Me too!! I get the extraS from my neighbors, too, so the chicken's basically OD on pumpkins lol.
How is your Dobie with chickens? I've been taking Baby Gil out with me every morning and he seems pretty good (they're in the run and not free ranging in the winter though).
Do you feed your doberman eggs? I have 18 chickens for a single mom and a toddler daughter so I'm always looking to offload eggs. My old dog didn't like them but I'm hoping this guy will. Not sure if it's okay to introduce them at this age though (10 weeks).
