New pup - Pet or Medium Military Crop???

Recently bought a female dobe and wanted to see what different style cut/cropped looks good on girls...I’m leaning toward pet cut style or medium military cut. I don’t really like the very long ears and the time it takes them to stand and tape so I think I found my style... thanks group, pic below of new girl

Welcome from Minnesota! :welcome:

You definitely don't want a military crop since it isn't a good look for a Doberman. A medium pet crop shouldn't be too hard to get to stand as long as you're willing to stick with the posting for a while.

Here is a thread that will show you a bunch of different crop styles and lengths and it might help give you an idea.
Crop Pics - Lets see your style!

Your pup looks like a cutie and must only be a few days old in the photo? How old is she now? Just curious since most breeders wait until they're old enough to evaluate before deciding which ones go to which homes. Or was this the only female so it was already decided for you?

4 days old, and your right but the breeder is a really good friend of mines and he knows how excited I am about getting one. was only 2 females out the litter so of course he keeping one and the other is mines...

I like the look of a longer crop and regret not having my boy cropped. I love his beautiful natural ears- the part I regret is not having to handle him as much as is required when posting a puppy. He didn't learn from an early age that he needs to cooperate with things being done to him that might be a bit uncomfortable such as nail trimming. I'd say to go for the medium to long crop and bond with your puppy through the process.

I don't mind a military crop. Long show crops seem further from the spirit of, and reason for, cropping than a military crop. But that's this one man's opinion.

I like what Oji's breeder had done for us. Not very long, nice and sleek but with some length to them.

My guy has a medium crop. Here are some pictures. I personally don’t like a long crop or short military crop. Nothing against them just don’t want a dobe I own having it.

This is the crop I wound up with on my first Dobe. A lot shorter than I thought it would be – almost military-like; but then again, he had an unusually large/blocky head so that probably made them look a bit shorter.

Our girl has a medium crop and it fits her head well. I wanted it a bit longer but the vet was conservative since so many don't want to follow up on the after care. I'm sure they were done by the time she was 4 months but I kept going a bit longer to be on the safe side.

Thanks again for the reply from everyone you guys are great can anyone tell me what is the healing process for the medium crop
Healing time would be pretty much the same with any cropping. Sutures stay in for 12-14 days, then they are removed and it takes another week or so for the scabs to dry up and fall off. Then the posting starts. Length of time to post varies for each dog and style of crop and the ear leather. It can be thick ear leather or thin which will affect the posting time also how much of the bell is removed will affect posting time. With a short crop they will usually be done sooner. You just need to post through teething. That is complete around the 6-7mo mark to have their permanent teeth in.
