Yes, they are native. The live in the far tropical north of the east coast in rain forest. The males especially are very territorial and protective of their young. I think the males care for the chicks the same and the male Emu does. And you really do need to be carefull around them, they are thick set and weighty and not too afraid of anything. They eat fruit so often end up in peoples yards looking for anything yummy around the home fruit trees.@jazzies mum a bit off topic but is a Cassowary native to Australia?

It was reported that this bird killed its owner when the man fell. Evidently the bird has a 4” middle talon on both feet and it eviscerated the guy when he fell. Good lord that is freaky.

I didn't hear about this incident, but could well have happened, especially if the bird was being treated as "domestic", which they will never be!
With all the bizarre things going on in Florida I am starting to think all the bat crazy people move to Florida. The news is filled with all the crazy things they are doing. Not just that a Cassowary attacked and killed someone, but the whole idea of there being sought after by collectors!

We even get to here about some of it over here on the other side of the world! With all the bizarre things going on in Florida I am starting to think all the bat crazy people move to Florida. The news is filled with all the crazy things they are doing.
Hahahaha, I hate that our state is the home of the bizarre, weird and just plain bat crazy and that it’s known worldwide. We even get to here about some of it over here on the other side of the world!
We all have to be known for something. Our state is known for all the politicians in jail.Hahahaha, I hate that our state is the home of the bizarre, weird and just plain bat crazy and that it’s known worldwide.
They call Key West, Key Weird.
She chose a tug toy with rope at each end and a really tough fabric bite area in the centre.......with a squeaky in it! So far she just wants to play tug games and hasn't focused on getting at that squeaky. These dogs are pretty happy to come back home, that’s for sure. We used to board Kaiser a lot (by comparison to how little everyone else on here seems to) and no matter how great the boarding time was, he was always thrilled to see us and on his best behavior thereafter haha. They are smart, but not smart enough to realize we’d keep sending him away just for the improved behavior lol.
The pet store outing seemed like a good time too. I always enjoy taking a walk through them. Good indoor training, learning to ignore others. What toy did she pick out? It’s funny to watch them shop huh.
Happy to hear that both of you are back together again!
