Hes very handsome! I always thought the endurance races would really be a fun event to participate in but I never did and I'm way too old now to start. LOL I never was "into" shows of any kind except for some backyard cowboying stuff. . But races always seems like a fun thing to try. He's 1/2 Thoroughbred, 1/2 Arabian, call name Sky. I used to do 50 mile endurance rides way back in my younger days; I wanted another Arab so I could do some long distance riding, but liked this Anglo-Arab cross. Bought him as a 3 year old in 2010. We've done some 25 & 30 milers and completed in good shape. One ride was a 3-day: 25 miles/30 miles/25 miles, so 80 miles in 3 days. That was about 5 years ago. I was going to work up to some 50's, but I've had some physical ailments and just went back to some pleasure trail riding. Now then I haven't ridden in over a year. Sky has become expensive yard art.
We call them ' expensive lawn ornaments' here.Sky has become expensive yard art.
I think the original finish was paint, but it's quite worn. It's held together with dowels like you thought, but the foot pedal is attached to a piece that is meant to rotate so it can be adjustable. The paint finish doesn't come close to the workmanship required for building the piece. What a great find - It looks painted or stained, which all the ones I've seen were natural wood. Also appears to be held together with dowels - am I seeing that correctly? Neat-o! Thanks for sharing!
Wow I've never seen anything like it and even doing a quick search, it didn't something like yours up. I think you have a pretty cool find there.More specifically, it's a harness maker's stitching pony. I saw it for sale and had to have it.
I agree. I can't remember the last time I bought something that could be "decorative", but I will use this for its intended purpose. And if I don't, it will be a really cool plant stand.Wow I've never seen anything like it and even doing a quick search, it didn't something like yours up. I think you have a pretty cool find there.
That's why I think the paint is newer than the piece, but I'm not an expert! Just love it for it's use or a new plant stand, it's awesome! The paint finish doesn't come close to the workmanship required for building the piece.
