Glen Allen Dobermans

Is anyone familiar with this breeder? Doctor was such a great ambassador that our friends are hot in the trail for a doberpup !!

This breeder has a male and female that are 4 months old, and wants $250 each. Obviously an insanely low price, and they have Championship bloodlines as well.

I bought a puppy fron Glen Allen Doberman Spring of 2016. Both parents were onsite, as were two other grown siblings. All of the dogs were in good health, well mannered, and gentle with small children. My 7 year old son was able to walk their stud dog around by the collar with no issues. I addition, Luke came with his first round of shots, puppy health certificates, 1 year health guarantee, and negative for Von Willebrand disease (vWD), which is common in Dobermens. My vet, dog trainer, and many others constantly note that Luke is a very well bred dog. The breeders are located directly across from the Animal Control center, so you know they have to be above board. The Center looks directly into their dog area. Luke is a smart, kind dog. He is well loved at his doggie day care, and gentle with children. I recommend them highly and would go back again. Just because a breeder isn't over publicized on the internet doesn't matter much. I raised, bred, trained, and national-level competion horses for decades. You wouldn't find much on my business either, as word of mouth is often enough for those with good, proven animals. Especially if one is in it for the love of the animal, rather than the accolades. I hope you consider them in the future.

Oh, and I forgot to include, $250 is the deposit required. I paid closer to $1,000 for Luke. Medical check ups, shots, etc. included.

From my understanding... and I could be wrong... #1, glad to hear your baby is so well rounded!! But a truly reputatable breeder will offer a lifetime guarantee, not just 1 year. Also I believe vwd isn't "positive" or "negative", it's affected, not affected, and carrier....

Thanks! I just send a request to join.

So on a different note, do you keep a pretty good eye on the Liper Land litters? I am around 95% certain that our next pup will be an import from either LL or Altobello. How long was the process for you when you got Drogon?
I would stay clear of Altobello. They have cardiac issues and utilize poor breeding practices. LL however I like.

Stay away. A definite BYB.

Oh yeah. I researched them last year after making that post. There is now way I would ever buy a pup from them, or from most places . I'm pretty picky now after learning so much and I follow the breeder referral listing group on FB.

Btw, the $250 was the actual price for those two dogs. It wasn't a deposit.

Ok, so I don't agree with that either. As a reputable breeder of national champion show horses for several decades, you cannot offer a lifetime guarantee on an animal because many health issues can be environmental rather than hereditary. They can only offer a lifetime guarantee against hereditary diseases. You can't hold a breeder responsible for every health issue, especially those known and otherwise accepted in a specific breed. However, a reputable breeder will take back a dog and re-home it if the situation is not correct. And actually the term of "negative" is exactly what my vet used for VWD. The terms "affected" and not affected" are more for the breed, rather than the dog. A "carrier" means the animal may never show signs of the gene disorder, but can pass it on to their offspring. Basically they are saying my dog does not carry the WVD gene, therefore will not become affected with the disease. It is something the animal is either born with, or not born with. Similar to the HYPP gene in some bloodlines of Quarter Horses. The horse tests either positive, or negative for the gene. All I can say is that my Dobie will be 2 at the end of this month and he remains in the picture of health. Everyone at the vet clinic admires how well-bred he complements his intelligence, temperament, and conformation.
