Is anyone familiar with this breeder? Doctor was such a great ambassador that our friends are hot in the trail for a doberpup !!

This breeder has a male and female that are 4 months old, and wants $250 each. Obviously an insanely low price, and they have Championship bloodlines as well.

I would say no on this breeder. I can't even find a site for them, but there are a ton of listings for them on places like Puppy Finder, which tosses up a red flag right away. The price is definitely a big red flag as well.

They were looking at a pup from a breeder that they could bring home this weekend. All I had to do was hear a few things, and I asked her the breeder's name. Same one we got Doctor from, I told her to run! Lol

Oh wow, I don't think that's going to happen so soon. I'm sure you told them that there can sometimes be a pretty long waiting list if they want a puppy that's going to be healthy and stable from a reputable breeder.
If you look at the DPCA referral it might get you started and the PA listings are on page 7 & 8. Wow there are a lot in that state...

I hope you are able to encourage them to slow down and take it slow in their research for a breeder. Good things come to those who wait :) Puppies that you can buy today are available so easily for a reason.

Oops, I forgot you're in VA. I think those are on page 9.

I haven't heard back from them today, but I know that earlier I was talking with them about waiting and letting me help find them a better breeder. They are kind of different strokes people, so we will see. I am praying they take my advice!

There's a FB group Security Check Required I think I joined before I got Drogon and then left afterward. I don't remember the quality of the breeder postings and I'm not a member so I can't look. It can at least give you names to research if you and/or they join.

That link is supposed to take you to a group named "Doberman Pinscher Breeder Listings" so if it doesn't work you can search FB using that wording

Thanks! I just send a request to join.

So on a different note, do you keep a pretty good eye on the Liper Land litters? I am around 95% certain that our next pup will be an import from either LL or Altobello. How long was the process for you when you got Drogon?

I'm FB friends with Vera and Goran. I see most of their posts but I'm certain I miss some and forget about others. I think it was about a month but I also went through a broker at first. The broker put me in touch with Vera. I think about 7-10 days later I sent my deposit. It gave me plenty of time to research LiparLand and the sire and dam.

Personally I think I got super lucky. I had my last dog put down in Dec and since I didn't want to get a puppy in Dec (Chicagoland) weather I waited until spring to start seriously looking. The lucky part is that Vera had puppies available that were just born in Dec. I picked him up from the airport on Easter. I don't remember exactly when I first talked with Vera

If you do go the import route when the time comes for a Dobersister for The Doctor, I hope you'll detail it here fully. I am really considering going that route when Oji dies. That is if my wife will allow us to get another Doberman. She grows more and more sour on the breed as time goes on (though I don't think it's a very rational stance).

Your friends and their search: I'll shoot straight and say it makes me uneasy with how rushed the decision and the search seems. You have to really want a Doberman to have one, and they just recently became convinced?

Not to be too judgmental though. I was a pretty dubious first time Doberman buyer myself back in my mid 20s for sure! The main difference is I had known for years that I wanted a Doberman and considered them the ultimate breed. Aside from that though, I literally decided I could go for it and get one, so I picked up a Minneapolis newspaper, chose one of the least expensive, if not the least expensive option, went (I think) that day and bought him. Picked up dog food and bowl on the way home that night. It's a miracle that Dobe and I got through all we did, what with my paycheck-to-paycheck, apartment-to-apartment, state-to-state, trying to find a place to rent with him life.

So who am I to judge?

Yeah. I was extremely shocked when they sent Craig a message saying that they had decided to get one and wanted to talk. I was no where expecting to hear so quickly.

I, too, can slightly relate though. I was devastated after Belle died and almost immediately began searching for a puppy. I knew some things about Dobermans, and was actually going to get a GSD, but my husband kept mentioning Doberman. So, I did a little research and then went and bought one. Lol.

Thankfully, the number one thing I knew was that they are extremely intelligent and need exercise!

DPBL facebook group is a great resource! They require all information to be posted upfront on both parents on litter announcements so you don't have to bother having to dig for that info. It is mostly NA breeders but there are working and EU dobe people on there too, just not as many by the day. :)
