I hear the same three comments most of the time.
About 1/2 the time people will just say, "Wow, Those are some good looking dogs"
The rest of the time I get comments like, "Hey, Are you going to breed them?" or, "I got a male Dobie, Would you be interested in breeding?" or "How much did you have to pay for those"...
I sort of get miffed when people ask me about breeding. Only a true idiot would ask about breeding just by seeing your dog out on a walk one day. No questions about the dogs heath or background first - Just questions about breeding. I tell these people that the girls are fixed and walk faster... :no2:
The questions about how much they cost bother me also. I normally just say that it was expensive and I stopped counting because it was making me really depressed to think about it... :no2:
I have also given replies such as "I don't know, These are not my dogs" and "I don't know - Wife wont tell me"
At the park today, I heard another common question and a GREAT answer from the little girls mom...
We were getting near our car to go home and saw another family with a boxer getting in their minivan to leave as well. A little girl (between 7 and 9 yrs old I guess) asked her mom, "Mommy, What happened to their ears? Are they hurt?" (Both the girls were posted then...)
I nearly fell out when the little girls mom told her that, "No honey, They are just training the ears to stand up pretty". I could NOT believe that I heard her say that. Smart mom she had! LOL!
Their dog was REALLY fat and I guess lazy. I saw it lay down next to their minivan and the hubby had to pick it up to make it get in! LOL!
The little girl and her mom got a kick out of watching the girls get in the car.
They were told to SIT and WAIT (and they DID!) while we opened the car door and fixed their spot and then they jumped up and got in it with NO problem when they were told to LOAD UP! The girls were on leashes then but they still 'listened' like remote controls without any need to do any correcting or tugging on a leash...
Under the covers...
Our butts must touch when you tell us both to SIT at the same time...
