Hey,
All of you OB and Working Dog People, if you have looked at your premium list for the DPCA National, you will see that the UDC is holding a Working Dog Trial on Friday of the National Week. This event is called the UDC Fall Classic because it is intended to be an annual event in conjunction with the DPCA National to showcase the Doberman's working talents. Of course, like any event the success is dependent on the support of the Doberman fanciers. If you are not familiar with these events, I invite you to come and watch. All of the trial will be held on the south end of the show grounds, except the tracking portion will held off site. Even if you do not have a schutzhund type dog, if you have a dog capable of passing an AKC CD obedience title and has a stable temperament, you should be able to have a reasonable chance to pass the Begleithund (BH) with just a small amount of preparation for you and the dog to be familiar with the pattern and exercises. The Begleithund (BH) is a companion dog or traffic sureness test. It is a prerequisite for advancement to a SCH or IPO title in most working dog organizations. It is also a prerequisite for ZTP evaluation. You can find out more information on this test on either of these websites: http://www.dvgamerica.com/04BHRules.pdf, BH Rules, Schutzhund Obedience and Pattern for BH.
Also, now that AKC recognizes these titles, this an opportunity for you to get these titles listed on your dog's record and pedigree with AKC. I look forward to seeing many of you in Topeka and hope that you will consider entering this prestigious trial, showcasing your dogs talents, and adding some more letters to the suffix of your dogs name. We will have a website up shortly that details all of the information and also photos of the tracking area. I will post the weblink as soon as I have it up. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the trial coordinator, Anne Conroy, [email protected], or myself [email protected]. If you do not belong to DPCA or have a premium list, you can download and print one at http://www.infodog.com/prm/588/prm58...mode=bookmarks, look on pages 33-36.
