Today was an AMAZING day! I now know why no one else posts photos. Now that we are both training dogs its really hard to find someone to capture it all for us. We started the day with tracking and she tracked like a champ.

Spock and Pat went over their BH pattern in preparation for the trial in November.

River had great experiences in OB. We took all but the last slat out of the jump and let her walk over. She did like it wasn't even there. I got her to put her front paws on the wall while it was standing but it was too steep to ask her to climb at this age. I had the guys lay it flat (ours won't stand at a real low angle) and had her walk over it. With a little cheese she went right over it. Marco was there and also did a great job with the wall and jump. Those two are so cute together.

River got in a couple little protection sessions here and there between everyone else's. Here is one with dad.

As thrilled as I am with our rising star I think Spock's protection work took the cake today. I'm so thrilled to say that our boy is BACK! A little age, some confidence work, and our regular helper back and he was on FIRE!

I guess people don't like what I say on here sometimes, Oh Well

River is adorable you go girl and her and Marco are so cute together.
I bet she is going to pick it all up very well.

Spock as usual is a BEAUTY and I think he is a natural, I can see it in
him. Like I said before, the parents of my GSD were trained and the
male took awhile picking it all up, he was a lover, but the female right
on right away..........................YOU GO SPOCK I HAVE FAITH

Great to hear Spock boy is back!!! He is not a GSD and he knows it. You just can't push them like a GSD. A Doberman is all about fairness and it has to make sense to them.
Absolutely. That method might have worked on a GSD but not on this boy. It didn't help that it happened during his teenage fear phase. I was so thrilled to see him back almost 100% that I could have cried.

Loved the video and pictures from your training day Jess.. thanks so much for sharing!
And again, I don't know much about the sport, but I love seeing Spock on a harness. I know its supposed to be easier on their necks, I was just wondering if Pat can tell if it makes a difference in the way Spock works, between a collar or harness?
You guys are all are doing great!

He says there isn't a real difference in how Spock works and reacts but it makes it easier to control him on the harness especially when they do the misses to build up the drive. It is also easier on his neck so we'll keep him on the harness till he's done working on the line.

For aggitation work the difference in the collar and harnes should not matter to the dog. If they have worked in both then neither should be diffcult for them. If they have only worked on a collar then the harness will seem strange to them. They are already used to a collar so the harness will give them more trouble the first time or two.

Unless Gunner is working off lead he is in his harness regardless - If you look at the picture we posted of him at our workship he is in harness but working off lead. Should I need to put him on lead he would be on the harness to protect his neck.

to add: Did I mention I am jealous of all the beautiful green grass!!!

Hi Jess! :) Woo wee River and Spock are looking great! I'm sorry to hear you hit a bump with Spock's training... It happened to Teufel too. It's good to know you got it figured out and remedied quick though.
