A reminder of how we can be the ones who can make a difference. @Katyusharocket description of the new, old & continuing friendships as a newbie in the show world in UKC.

This is a life-long very experienced horseman who mostly competed in eventing on Thoroughbreds, but also owned and competed in several sports on different breeds. He's never forgotten being a newbie:

Very well said and that's what I love about UKC. Nearly everyone there gets to know each other and it's like meeting old friends at every show, whether you've met them once or several times per year. I was sitting next to a lady I don't remember meeting yesterday and she was super nice and did a great job showing. When I started packing up she said "oh no are you moving?", but I just needed to leave. I told her I will see her at the fall show if she goes and she said they definitely want to try. But in the meantime we had a very nice conversation about anything and everything.

The difference is amazing!
At a UKC show here I happened to look around and noticed that there were a lot of the same people I've seen at AKC shows. There were 3 of the same judges that I saw a couple weeks before. What gives with that?

Well that's interesting. Maybe those judges placed their dogs high in AKC so they decided to try to earn new points in UKC too? I know in UKC all of your counted competition wins have to be from different judges in different shows so many people tend not to go to UKC shows with the same judges when they are trying to earn a conformation title.
I know the judge I transported yesterday and today said she is both an AKC and UKC judge so she may be familiar with a lot of dogs from both venues.

If points are counted in AKC for other clubs, but the "different judges" rule does not apply in AKC then thats a way to "finish" faster, correct?

I can infer from reading here and elswhere "in the fancy" there are a lot of costs to go from show to show, paying for hotels, entry fees, trainers, paying pro handlers where thats an advantage.

So There is a simple business logic in the logistics alone.

And presumably a judge that favors a certain look is to be sought out if thats what the breeder has developed a line towards?

From my newb understanding
the key thing in show dogs- finish fast?

Then they can be put to work breeding? The more puppies in a litter that finish the more value in subsequent litters, correct?
