Soluna's Trendy

She's looking good, and seems to love it! LOL, how's Dereks back with tracking? In the beginning, staying with the dog (and mine was pulling like a train and skipping steps) was a back killer for me. You have gorgeous tracking ground to work on - is that your clover field?

how's Dereks back with tracking?
Oh gosh, starting tracking is awful because of that LOL. Velma seems to be a SUPER fast learner in all phases and we're already standing up after only a few weeks of tracking. She progressed to now tracking with two lines this morning! Trendy has been really good checking each foot step but this morning she had something up her bum and wanted to track fast so she had to be checked at each step like milking a cow.

is that your clover field?
Yes its our property that has been planted with a clover, alfalfa, flax seed mixture for the chickens (plus weeds since we don't treat) and its worked out wonderfully for tracking at home! If I need to mow I just leave an area for them to be able to track in then mow it the next time.

You don't know how lucky you are! Dirt, rocks and scattered bunch-grass or weeds is what I've got. I was thinking of getting back into tracking, since it was me who quit, Asha loved it. I'd do it in a heartbeat if someone else would lay the track...

I'll bet your obedience is looking good too. I boxed myself into corners with bad habits since I didn't have a good teacher until she was almost 2. She can do the ob.1 routine except the send-out, but it's all pretty sloppy other than her recall.

The tracking worked right away without clicking on anything. But the one with the blind just brings me to Tic tok to install the app. 🤷‍♀️

Sometimes its your web browser settings.
I use Brave as I can quickly experiment on linkd- TikTok is tricky so if the poster links to a web version it seems to work like thisIMG_5157.webp

@Rits are you Soluna?
Edit: NVM I searched here a bit further back-
Congrats!
Following with great interest!

@MyBuddy Fyi I found a similar video on Facebook

But as you can see, it may not display on a website by link, so you'd have to go view on FB, or via a browser that will play there in web mode

Try a PVC pipe with a funnel duct taped to the end. Saves your back! Hubby gets to lay track for our club when we have trials because of his size 13 shoes 😂

@Rits are you Soluna?
Yes, Soluna Dobermans is my husband and I 😊 I'm on Tik Tok, Facebook and Instagram, though Instagram not as often.

Really impressive!
Thanks! Super happy with her and looking forward to the day they eventually trial! Still got a ways to go. I can't wait to see Velma (also a Ripley daughter, diff sire) in another year. She's like Trendy but on another level without some of Trendy's weak areas. We're excited 😁

No club during the winter as the place we rented for winter training sold and our club is currently pricing flooring for the president's garage :D soooo that means late night watching videos and wishing we were back at club!

Last video I took of Trendy. They trained a few more times after this then we got dumped on with snow so its mostly been small OB sessions inside our small training room at home. But, I'm so proud of hubby. His first dog he's almost solely trained himself alongside our Training Director. First focused heeling. First sport dog. First obedience dog. First IGP dog... he's brand spanking new to it all! So while they may be slower in their progress than one who has been around the block a time or two, they are making progress. Slow and steady but always ever inching forward!

Really focused! Are her hackles up on her back? It sort of looked like it and I was wondering why. Excitement?

Also, it happened so fast I was trying to see what happened, but did he drop the leash at one point? Is that like a reward or something? Similar to giving them the sleeve?

Team Trendy for the win - tell Derek I know the feeling: going in not knowing a damn thing except the picture in my head of the end result. So happy they are Doing the Thing. I don't think any sport takes as much dedication and practice and needs a club team to help as Schutzhund. But the work with your dog and doing those millions of baby-steps makes a bond like no other. ❤️ They're looking great!

No hackles are up so I'm not sure what you may be seeing? She is really focused though! They've been working hard on that!

but did he drop the leash at one point?
Very close! He has a tug toy tucked away in his armpit, that when she does good, he marks with a YES! and opens his arm to release the toy to her! Dropping the leash in the process so she can jump up and get it then run into him for a good tug session or so she can run around with her prize for a little. 😊

Exactly this! He knows what it should look like but definitely needs the guidance, and not from me, haha. Having to make the effort to leave your home and show up to an appointment almost with someone expecting you there really helps to keep one honest and committed to their training. He's been struggling with it over the break 😅 but then I finally manage to motivate him to "just spend 5-10 min" and he always come out of training and is super happy with the bit of progress. I'm like "see!" 😛 It doesn't take much per day!
