She's here!

Nice girl though, don't you think?
I think she looks a lot like Demelza so if your pup turns out to look like that she's going to kick some butt big time if you decide to show her in any conformation.

And just so you know, I was dreaming about playing with puppies all night. LOL

No matter what she looks like she will be the apple of your eye! So happy for you! Can you have Vera send pics ASAP????

She will definitely be my pride and joy just like Drake and any dog I have ever owned. She will be who she is and I will love her for it.
Vera is in Italy at the IDC championship. She left hubby in charge of whelping. Apparently he is good at that but a flop at pics. Vera will send pics when she gets home.

I more than likely will. Probably sticking with UKC and IABCA. Those two venues are just more fun for me.

Me too, when I could sleep. I even woke up a few times smelling puppy breath.

Soi what do you guys think? I liked the name Rumor because I knew that my choice would get people talking. And it has. A breeder called this morning to let me know she that she knows of a pet quality female available. I told her I had made my choice and a little girl would be coming hoime soon enough.
When I told her my choice, she gave me a royal butt chewing. Told me she hates euro breeders because they will sell to anybody. They are in her opinion, dangerous because they have no spay/neuter contract. Overall not a pleasant conversation for me. I just told her that for me that's the best part of living in the USA. Everybody is free to have their own opinion.
I did my research, of course I have some experience and I put that all together to make the best decision for us. Sometimes I wish I could just say F*** off! to certain people. If she would have kept her mouth running, I probably would have. I guess it's a good thing she hung up on me. I wouldn't want my mother to think her efforts to raise a polite girl failed.

On a funny note. There is a lot of excitement in this house today. Of course it's rubbing off Drake, my little energizer bunny. Can't help but think if he only knew
Can't wait for Drake to meet the little land shark with needles for teeth.

I was actually hubby that approached me with the idea. After talking with Vera several times I decided to go with her. Was it a tough decision, yep! But I think the right one. She puts no pressure on you to do anything with your pup and certainly understands if you can't make that commitment. That was the biggest problem I was having with breeders in the states. They want this contract with promises of finishing the pup when they can't promise that you will be able to. Not to mention the remarks, sometimes caddy, if you could only commit to a "pet". I'm not knocking the process, I do understand to an extent the process, It's just not for me.
I want to discover together what we want and can do, make sense? The experiment of discovery is part of the journey for me.
That makes complete sense to me. I can't understand the contracts that some breeders write up. I don't want someone else having that much control over my dog or worse try to force me to try to put a round peg (the dog) in a square hole, and I know a lot of other people feel the same way. I couldn't even agree to puppy obedience classes since the nearest one I know of is a 3 hour round trip and I can train my own puppy (Thank you very much!)

That's just the sour grapes that turns me off to some of the breeders who think they are the only good ones. What they're saying is totally untrue and of course there can be bad Euro breeders just like there are bad US breeders so it's up to us to do the research and find one who is best for us, and in turn the best choice for them as well.

Exactly! We're limited on good trainers around here too and it would do more harm than good to use some of them that are available. We were lucky that our trainer still lived here when we got all of our Doberman pups, but she has since moved away and there's one place we attended over 20 years ago with our GSP that I will never step foot in again.

That said, I'm all about good training, socialization and group classes, but not with the wrong trainer.

I found some pups that I was really interested in. I didn't work out because there seemed to be a shortage of girls. Could I have settled for a male? Sure. But I know I am at high risk for SSA. Drake is a great dog, but he is not so fond of males. Maybe we could have worked on it and fixed it, but I wasn't interested in a crate and rotate life so I wasn't gonna risk it. The rest of the breeders, OMG there is no way I could have signed a contract with them so I walked away. Some even wanted to name the pups. Maybe, and I mean maybe, I could settle on the registered name, but no way was anybody else picking the call name for my dog.

Trust me, you don't have to live in the boonies to have a shortage of good trainers. There's probably 100's if not 1000's around here. Doesn't mean they are good or should be able to call themselves a trainer.

:yatta::party: My baby girl has entered the world! I can't tell you how excited I am!

Now let me tell you a little about her. She came today along with 9 siblings, 3 black males, 4 red male and 3 black females. So no little red girl for me. I good with that as most of you know the story of Drake. :)
Now for the surprise I told you all about. She is from Liparland. I know you are all surprised at that.
Long story that I will share if you want to hear. it.
Here is the proud parents

Originally not the pup I wanted but definitely the right one for me.
Now I just have to start the count down. First will be dock day, a step closer to coming home next will be the crop and before I know it she will be home!

I'm so happy for you!!!

When is Vera coming back from that darn show? :D

She's back! I thought I would be nice and give her a minute to catch her breath before I start nagging.:)
I can't imagine how exhausting a trip like that must be. Serbia to Italy all in a couple of days and with dogs? I would need some time to recover. That is if I survived. I'm not a good traveler.

I just popped over to FB and saw that. Can't wait!

A wonderful lady that I met on an organised Doberman walk has just posted some pics from the International Doberman Club Show in Italy. She's literally just got back to the UK. I guess this is the same show that you are talking about?
Her dogs, Rudi and Priyas father, Tahi Réme Max won his Honor class and Progeny class.
