except tiny! these are only about 1/4" long!

Man, how do you get the barbs out…what’s the chances of infection?

I just pulled them with my fingers, several broke off leaving the barb under the skin. I've never seen any terrible side effects. I guess the body eventually breaks them down? I washed her down with warm water at home and found some more that I could pull out and could feel the nubs of some that broke off.

Some of those look like the little sand burrs that we used to have

Those are "spider-like" burrs are what come off the plant, made to stick into the victim from one side then the other side sticks into you when you try to pull it off! all those other little pieces are what stuck in without the whole burr. Cholla (pronounced Choy-ah) is seriously a bad cactus to run into.

This morning. As soon as they get up with me they make a beeline to the couch to take a nap. LOL That said, hubby feeds them and takes them out at 5:30 but then they come back to bed with me for a while since I'm not such an early riser.

They were over in the "suspicious spot" this morning so I got up to see what they were doing. I guess they were behaving but almost all of our pups have figured out that they're partly out of my view from there. LOL


And another nap after getting up yesterday.
