The dobie brothers are back at it!.
Draco got bit the other day on his ear, a Jack Russel it was, off leash, with no recall, I'm glad I grabbed Draco in time or it would have ended badly for the little fella.
Bran is in his Doberteens era and acting like a mad dog, but we still love him. He still loves Draco, and Draco is smitten with him, 0 fights between them so far, we've had them live in the same house and everything's good so far so fingers crossed!
I can't believe how much Bran has grown, he's a giant.
Those little turds are fiesty and get themselves in trouble for it sometimes.
Them getting along is great news! Bran looks like he is conquering those mites really nicely!
This reminds me a little bit of last night. I wish I had a picture.
Last night after horses were fed and put to bed and the dogs were walked, Annie became Psycho Puppy. I was sitting at the kitchen table playing fetch with her trying to spend some energy. Couple of times she tried to crawl up in my lap. Yeah, 33 lbs last time I checked and bigger than my lap I wasn't so sure that was going to happen. But when she did it again I realized that it was really her bedtime! She was probably telling me, I'm tired, let's go to bed. I pulled her onto my lap. She barely fit even with me putting my feet up on the next chair. She was restless for about 20 seconds. And then she kind of sprawled out across my legs, hung her head upside down across my arm and promptly fell asleep! It was so cute I wish I could have had someone take a picture. But after a while she was killing me!
My knees were being bent in the opposite direction and my butt was killing me. I finally had to gently put her down and say, let's go to bed. She promptly walked into our bedroom and into her crate and I didn't hear a peep out of her till 5:00am.

Back at the pool today, this time my brother and his girlfriend’s dog came along! Remy made really good progress with his swimming last time, but tonight he was back to his old ways lol. I realized he can (and does) literally walk on his hind legs in the water! 
He did not want to give up this toy. He has a lot of toy drive except for when he’s in the water… Hopefully once he becomes better at swimming he’ll want to retrieve the toys.

Do they allow you to get in the pool? If they don’t, try to find somewhere that you can participate in the swimming with remy someone’s pool or a lake. I would be using his desire to get to you to build those swimming skills.
This may sound blunt. Remy may have high toy drive but, it isn’t high enough to over come his discomfort with swimming. You need to think of another motivator to get him started.

Yes, you’re allowed in the pool with the dogs. The problem is he isn’t a good swimmer yet, so I have to assist him by holding his rear end up lol while he swims back to the ramp. Last week I didn’t need to, but he wasn’t doing great this time.
I agree. I understand why you can’t, but I really wish I was able to use food there as that’s his biggest motivator. He’ll do just about anything for food. I’ve been playing with him on the dock itself to hopefully build more value for toys while he’s near/at the pool. I think part of the reason why he’s so uninterested in toys while in the water is because he’s too focused on trying to swim.

@remy when you and him are in the pool he’s trying to get away from you and get back to the step? I would try to make the pool more fun and enticing to him. Run, scream, jump off the dock yourself. Trying going underwater while he’s looking at you. Do everything you can to make it fun and interesting for him.

Yes. Typically I’ll float him out to the end of the pool, help hold his rear end up (he sinks when you let him go) until he starts properly swimming on his own, then he swims back to someone on the dock. I posted a video about 2 weeks ago in the video of the day thread that shows what I’m explaining.
The pool isn’t very deep, maybe slightly higher than waist level, so I don’t think jumping in would be an option for me. That also makes him able to stand on his hind feet (when he “sinks”) and that’s why I typically assist him and he then swims back to someone else, rather than just to me. He loves to stand on the very edge of the dock, but I guess is still too uncertain to jump in. I think he’s getting there though.
It’s hard because I’m trying to help him swim properly, which I think would make him feel more confident, and make things more fun at the same time.

Sort of random but I figured other “dog people” would get how satisfying this is to me haha. 
A few weeks ago I posted pictures I took of my grandma’s dog and mentioned I wanted to work on shortening his nails. I have been dremeling them once a week for the past three weeks and there is a big difference already! I didn’t have the best comparison photos, but you can still see the difference, especially in his dew claws.

Looks much better! Those darn dew claws too. We adopted my Mom's Sheltie when she passed and I always forgot about those dews since none of our dogs have them and not only did the Sheltie have them, but they were covered with hair so I didn't see them.
