Prada diagnosed with DCM

Prada was not well this week, rushed her to our vet. Her heart was at over 260 bpm. We then rushed her to a cardiologist. They manage to get her stable and she is now on 3 new meds to help her monitor heart arrhythmia. Unfortunately due to the damage done they are giving her chances 6-12 months before she has congestive heart failure. We are just going to take it day by day.

Oh no!!! I hate DCM and everything that goes with it. I pray that the meds can stabilize her for a long time. The meds really helped Della as long as we kept her quiet and I hope Prada responds to them as well.

Oh no!!! I hate DCM and everything that goes with it. I pray that the meds can stabilize her for a long time. The meds really helped Della as long as we kept her quiet and I hope Prada responds to them as well.

Keeping her quiet is the problem, she is on mandatory rest for two weeks then she gets a recheck. Then light exercise and play to build her stamina back. Not sure she will ever get to trial again. Maybe just trial her In Protection This fall if she is doing ok. She loves it so much. I wasn’t her to enjoy what ever time she has not restrict her to nothing. That would not be fair for her.

As a big fan of Prada, I’m so sorry to hear of this development. For what it’s worth, we have had this discussion and we also agree that letting them live every day to their hearts content is the most fair way forward.

I take a certain comfort in knowing Daisy’s last day, she had a great one. With all her favorite things.
