Hello all
This might not be the right place to post this as I am new here.
I have an almost 6 month old Euro Puppy. I got his ears done at 11 weeks, and the vet did an amazing job with the surgery. However, I feel like their posting method was not as good. They had us post with the tape only method.(wrap elastic tape up on itself to create the support and the. Wrap around the ear.) After the first post his ears looked great! We continued to post with this method. After a few more weeks his ears started leaning toward eachother. I later learned this is because he was forming pockets. I took him back to the vet that did his surgery and they told me his ears looked great and they were leaning because of the way he was holding them. So I continued this posting method until a few weeks ago as I thought they were going to work themselves out. They continued to get worse so after heavy research I decided to try the backer rod method with bumpers to push the pockets out. This method works soo much better, I wish I had done it all along and I wouldn’t be in this position.
I am honestly worried that we let the pockets go for too long. When I remove the backer rod to repost his ears look amazing. However, after about 10-15 minutes after the post is removed they start to lean again. As of right now I plan to keep posting him like this but I do not know if it is too late to correct the issue. His ears feel really hard and that pocket is also very hard.
Any tips on what else to do? Or if I should keep posting like this and hope they correct? Or am I too late? I will post various pictures as well. Any advice would be much appreciated.
ps. I have included pictures of his first posting/ears standing after removal. The amount of lean before starting backer rods. And a picture of him right after the rods are removed
