Needless to say it is not going well, he scratches and scratches to get them off, the don't last more than 2 minutes, I'm not sure if I'm putting them in properly, but ether or he is not having it.

Suggestions? I'm borderline about to just give up

Never GIVE UP!! Have you tried giving a chew treat right after you get done with the posting? Ruby seemed to have the most issues with them as soon as they were done. She would shake her head and paw at them. I would get her mind off them by giving her a chew treat that would last awhile. And a lot of "Leave it". lol

It is good practice for my patience :,) I'll give that ago, but he took one off not long ago but does not give a foggies about the other one many I just put one in oddly not too sure but I'll definitely give that ago!

Don't give up. Set them nice and deep into the ears and give him a yummy to take his mind off of it :!

Looks good. From the first pic it looks like the posts might be a bit too big for you to be able to get it as deep into the canal as you can. Are you using backer rod? If so, you might try backing down to a size smaller.

My little guy is such a wiggle worm that I have to put him on a barstool. He can't move very much up there, and I'm able to post him pretty easily. Treats afterwards every time. I was worried before I did it, but once you do it you'll see it's pretty easy.

Have everything prepped and ready to put on before you get the puppy in position. Speed is key!

I'm not no, but I've orderd some, at the moment I was following a guide Altobello gave but it is not just working with me so I've got some backer rod and other supplies to work with.

I agree. The post itself looks rather thick. Not sure what you are using as a post but I use a 1/2 inch backer rod it's probably equivalent to a regular tampon -maybe a slender- definitely not super.

Also we do the posting on our counter top. I place a yoga mat on top and then lift Shadow up (don't know how much longer we'll be able to do that). We put her in a down position and my husband holds her head. We find that she wiggles less this way.

I don't know if the picture is deceptive but the post looks pretty fat. That would make sense why he is able to get them off easily. If you can't get them down DEEP cause they are too thick, you will want to go with a 1/2 inch thickness...they will slid in quite easily all the way in. Also if the post are too thick they might irritate the inside of the canal...you don't want that. It's trial and error, you'll get it. ;)

IMG_1406.webp IMG_1408.webp It's a weird photo but I thought this might help.
You can see how the post goes all the way in and also the tape does not cover the whole ear hole. When looking at your pic it almost looks like you have the whole base wrapped but it could just be the pic.
I use Elasticon tape and wrap all the way up but most just tape the base, middle and tip. The Elasticon is only used for the exterior around the ear taping. I back tape the post with Zonas.

Aha that's very helpful! Thank you!
