Exactly the color like a soft magenta. I was trying to figure out the color today red, auburn, but thereās a little purple in there. So magenta it is!I used to know a beautiful black dobe who had the 'magenta' hairs on his head....it's definetly not the rust in their paws and cheeks; more of a weird burgudy. And just a few hairs together, almost looked dyed!

I was going to say it's like a soft reflexion of her leash color!Exactly the color like a soft magenta. I was trying to figure out the color today red, auburn, but thereās a little purple in there. So magenta it is!
It was so bad and so hot which wasnāt helping. My husband said as soon as you looked at her belly, I started packing up the cabin. I knew by the look on your face we had to leave asap. Lol heās a good man. That itching and those bites on her belly must have been awful! Glad she's all better now. Every now and then I get a reminder like this why I moved to the high desert. That photo gave me the heebie jeebies!
Might be fire ants...same treatmentNo kids for a few days theyāre visiting family, Husband, Pepper, and I made a trip to the Catskills for the weekend⦠so we thought. Got there yesterday unpacked and a big storm came through knocked the power out. We lost water itās a well and it was abnormally HOT up there. We were making the best of it until I see Pepper itching and licking her groin/rear end areas non stop. She was in the woods for hours sniffing so I figured maybe she was just irritated. I took a look and it seems like chiggersā¦I couldnāt bathe her and didnāt have any Benadryl on me. I did however have Chlorohexidine, but she needed to be bathed. The heat Im sure made her itching worse. We decided after the storm to pack up and get off the mountain before it got dark. The fog was intense and the main road down the mountain was closed due to a tree down. Took some shady side road that got us to the main highway out. What a nightmare! Also, a bummer.
Got home super late gave her a bath, Benadryl, and sprayed Chlorohexidine on the area. She slept got, up 5:30 am to potty and eat then back to bed. Seems better today not messing with it and sleepy due to all of what we went through.
Going to try again in a few weeks lol and pack Benadryl always! Never know who may need it. Photo attached I cropped her area out of the photo. She was irritated all over down below.View attachment 161506

Ah Youāre right she was laying on the deck. Those do hurt. Years ago at my youngest school soccer game I decided to sit on the ground, and apparently I sat where the fire ants were and they got stuck in my shorts that was quite a scene. Gives me the ick thinking about that incidentMight be fire ants...same treatment
Thanks Jan! Yes, theyāre pretty painful the worst.Poor girl and you! Thankfully we don't have chiggers around here but I have experienced the bites when we were in some southern state and they were no fun.
Sorry she went thru all of that!I took a look and it seems like chiggersā¦I couldnāt bathe her and didnāt have any Benadryl on me. I did however have Chlorohexidine, but she needed to be bathed. I talk about it a lot LOL but really, I spray my deck, some areas around the house and my barn, even in my horse stalls. And myself! Yesterday I was spraying the screen on both our patio doors. But I also spray Annie. Not all the time but when we're outside for a while and especially when I see her setting her butt down and scooting because I know there's probably gnats bugging her. It's just an added precaution and protection from biting insects.Awww, poor Pepper! I hate these biting things, whether it's mosquitoes ticks or chiggers! I agree that you should probably keep Benadryl with you all the time. How about a spray bottle of Wonderside? I use a lot of that stuff as I'm sure you know.I talk about it a lot LOL but really, I spray my deck, some areas around the house and my barn, even in my horse stalls. And myself! I bought a Wonderside collar for Kali that I never used.I opened it and it was long enough for Annie. It goes on like a zip tie so I just made it long enough that I can slip over her head. I didn't want it to be on all the time but something I can slip on when I know she's going to be out for a while and possibly running through the woods.
I totally agree! She said it means so much to her that we have Pepper and really pay attention to her needs. Sheās a dog that has a lot of issues and a lot of her clients donāt pay much attention. Many of them wait for years before they address things. She said she needed me as her mom to be on top of things.
