Pepper 🌶️

You can still take her for an on leash hike while she's recovering, but I just wouldn't do any hills or obstacles.
The other hard part for us was no food after 6 pm and no water after midnight the night before. The morning of she was saying where is my breakfast???
:tap:
How long should walks be during recovery? Recovery is 2 weeks? And no steps?

The no food is going to be a tough one for sure 😩😬

You'll be relieved when all is said and done! Are you planning to get her stomach tacked while she's under?
Thank you @Rits ❤️

No, no one tacks around here. I don’t understand why that is. Out of the vets I called none, so strange. They said go to blue pearl lol.

Yeah, I always hate the no food and water thing. They don't get it and it always makes me feel bad. 😔

I think we're all the same in that we want to get these things done for their health and well-being and know that the vets been doing it's for years and it's so simple, right? And yet we still stress. Nobody likes to part with their dog. You should have seen the look on my face when I took Annie in for that corn cob incident . I didn't know she had to stay . I never had a dog go through that procedure before . I probably had this look of shock and bewilderment on my face as I slowly raised my hand to give her the leash . Kinda like, what the heck man ! 😭

On one hand I can't wait to get Annie spayed and on the other hand I know I'll be just like you. Crying as I hand over the leash. And stressing until I get that phone call. But the happy reunion is always the best! I can still remember the look on Buddy's face when I picked him up after his neuter. He was so happy to see me. And me him! :yatta:

Your little night reunion will be sweet! Just a relaxing time together!

Thank you for the kind words and support @MyBuddy ❤️

It means a lot having you all here at DCF who understand the love we have for our Dobermans.

Just want to get to tomorrow get it done with and get home. My husband said he’ll go with me for pick up which will help.

:banghead: that has got to be sooo frustrating. Getting all emotionally ready then: nothing.
They’ve done this previously too. I was to have her done 9/3 initially then doctor wasn’t working, so 9/16, and 9/24. I was on a waitlist hence the appointment for tomorrow.

Fingers crossed 9/3 and if not I may need to just wait. Although, the girl who just called me seemed embarrassed because this has been ongoing.

I really didn't worry about how long the walks were as long as they're just walking at a normal pace. I let Olive do the steps since she doesn't bound up or down them. If it was Elroy, it would be a different story since he does.
Really the first couple days are the time you need to be the most careful and I checked the incision several times every day to make sure all of the stitches were in place and nothing was getting red or swollen.

For sure and in reality it's only 2 or 3 hours after we drop them off until they call saying everything went well.

Spay is set for tomorrow. I am having a breakdown inside. I know it’s up to me, but with her being a carrier I am still grappling with is the is right to do? 😩
Carriers do not have bleeding issues! We're all here for you, I know it's nerve wracking, any surgery is, but the carrier gene does NOT cause excessive bleeding! Hugs & know you've got DCF holding best thoughts for you & Pepper! ❤️

Also, I saw this at Walmart the other day and thought of you... Not sure if it's the same thing you ordered and sent back, but if it looks like something that would work for you, it should be on the shelf at any larger Walmart to just walk in and pick up.

Thank you so much!!! I am losing it at the moment. Going back and forth in my head.

Appreciate the support from you all ❤️

Ah thank you I will go check Walmart out today. The one I got her was so short lol. I do have a cone for back up too. I know it’s terrible, but I am not sure how she’s going to react as she is a cobber and licker.

Today and tonight I may go crazy 🤪 🤦‍♀️

Also being Walmart, everything is easy to return.

I would be too. These dogs own us & our hearts.

 yeah, east way to ramp up the stress level. Go half-caf tomorrow morning. 🤣
You’re right super easy and I have one close too.

They sure do own us, she is my heart.

Pretty sure you have gotten to know me and know I don’t even need coffee haha. BP runs high due to being a spaz 😵‍💫😂

We will be thinking of you! We know these things go well, but that doesn't stop us from worrying like crazy until we get the call from the vet. time away form them doesn't help either, when they are usually our shadow and our heart. We will be waiting to read that you got the "everything went well" call!
