Outdoor Dog House

We actually put up a sort of lean-to for shade for the Sinisters because we have a very sunny yard. I wanted them to be able to have access to shade when we are outside, but they will only go lay under it if one of us goes with them!
When we are out on our back deck, the dogs love being out there with us. As soon as we go back inside, they want to go back in with us. They really don't like to be out there by themselves. Unless maybe there is a bone involved. But even that doesn't last that long. They just want to be with their humans! Every once in awhile, on a beautiful day, Buddy will ask to go outside and plop himself down in the grass, in the Sun and just bask. He'll look at me like, nope, don't want to come in. But again, that doesn't last. My husband just took him outside to be with him in the garden. Next thing I look and Buddy is standing on the deck looking in the screen at me like, can I come in? He's my boy!

I get up early and will turn on the outdoor lights and open the door for the pups to go out and potty. They just stand on the porch and refuse to go down and potty unless I go with them. I will act like I am going to go down the stairs with them and they will run down then wait for me. They know my tricks and refuse to fall for them so that means I have to go down and watch them potty. They usually beat me up the stairs and are already back in the bed waiting on me.
The demands for paw holding are real.:wtf:

My dude does the same thing. After he does his morning poop he sprints back in the house. Jumps into bed with mom and takes my spot. Then makes disgruntled noises when I make him move out of the way so I can get back in bed.

Well. I have an outside shelter for Jazz! She only needs to be left there when I am leaving to do the shopping or some other chore that she can't come along and we have had this routine right from the start. No trouble with separation anxiety, in fact she is quite keen to go there as she gets a meaty bone on those occasions, and afterwards just has a nap until I get back. Comes out stretching and groaning to greet me but not at all stressed! All it is is a low roof of about 4ft on four posts with a trampoline bed under it, and under the shade of a tree as well. The roof area is quite large because I already had it hanging around so recycled it.

In fact this shelter has been part of her life from the start, being the place where she had some time out if she got too crazy as a young pup, but still she regards it as a good place! In the heat she will go out there to find the coolest place, and is one of her quiet places to sleep by choice when I am busy with something else! I think it serves the same purpose as a crate does for most people and their dogs.
I just had to be the one to be different and have an outside dog house!!! Don't shoot me down. :gun::shock:

This thread has resulted in some hilarious stories by the way!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I do that when it's raining and I know they have to go. They'll stand at the door like, but it's raining? So I say, come on, let's go! And I step out the door. They both run out. And then I stepped back in LOL by that time they are out there and will pee and run back in! Somehow they didn't melt! ;)

i do find this to be so funny as Ace loves to be out and playing no matter what the weather is. rain snow blizzard or sunny he wants to be out there and play ball or find some animal he can chase down. over this winter he caught and killed 3-4 squirrels now we never see any in the yard . but rabbits and talk about a dog that hates to see birds land in the yard either he will chase them off as well. ( his yard his yard only )

We are moving to a large farm this summer, and living in a travel trailer. I am putting a large "igloo" in the back yard for the dogs.

What? There are dobies with their shelter when outside. :wideyed: Our yard is pretty shady and the dogs do have a bed outside for lounging but that was a waste of time and money. Both dogs are within easy reach of me at all times.
Who needs a dog house when Mom will share her chair?

Anyone doubting how intelligent Dobermans are only have to look at how well they train us! We have them trained with the manners and obedience we like, and they have us trained with the special privileges and needs of the breed. As long as she asks politely Jazz can twist me around her paw with ease!!!

If you want to build a dog a den outside to hang out in and you have the climate and property to enjoy it, do it. Youre gonna have to pay a good amount of money, youre not gonna find anything quality ordering it or anything. It would have to be built by someone. Ive built my dog a kennel he can access via the garage for when hes hanging out with me in there. Sometimes a dog just wants to check out his own world. Theyre velcro dogs but alot of people abuse any and every the doberman stereotypes sometimes.
