Nose Work practice video

Set up a Detective type level for Reckless and ran Asha on it for fun and she did great! 6 hides in a huge area, only one hide was really complicated and it showed (last hide you'll see her get on the video). It was placed in a 1/2" pipe which was about 8 feet long and up in the air about 4 feet, so odor was coming out the other end, which sent the dog(s) around the tree and looking up but it was very difficult to trace the source point for them. It would be classified as inaccessible * I think * and maybe if I saw this much drive with out an alert in trial I'd just call it, thinking the hide was out of reach. Asha did eventually figure out the puzzle and put her nose on it. I was really impressed with her work ethics duration - it's a long video, over 7 minutes, so don't bother if you aren't into nose work or you'll be bored.

Awesome job, Asha! That’s a great search area too with plenty of hiding spots. I often have trouble finding new areas of my yard to place the hides lol.

Here's from Fridays practice - 4 hides, 45°F, winds 15 - 20 constant. The first 3 hides were easy for Asha. I cracked up on the first find because the hide was underneath the top of the picnic table but the tables were made of expanded metal so instead of sourcing from underneath Asha jumped on top of the table and put her nose right on it through the mesh top. 3 other dogs were working with us and none of them jumped on the table. LOL. The trouble maker was a hide on a post on the bar fence. As we search, I think the wind was taking it down the entire fence and blowing so hard that she could not follow it back to source. (I'm guessing, we have no instructor to explain for sure) Anyway, at a little after 4 minute mark she has got the odor caught up in that sign and jumps/follows it back to where it sits on top of the post.

Today we went to Tractor Supply - they let us do SW there inside and out. We only did one inside, the rest were outside. This is the only one I videoed. She got all 4 hides pretty easily, two other runs she got stumped (NQ if it had been a trial) but we learned a lot! That's what training is for!
