Technically, this number is up for debate as dog breeds vary depending on the organization. For example, the World Canine Federation recognizes about 350 dog breeds, while the American Kennel Club registers 200 dog breeds. Interesting. Thanks for posting the graphic for quick reference.

I didn't read the article, so I don't know how they arrived at the popularity ratings. Some of those breeds are certainly not popular.

We see a lot of Viszlas and a ton of GSPs, for what it's worth. The vast majority of the Viszlas I see are so small! Maybe 35 - 45 lbs. There are a lot of small GSPs too.

On the last street we lived on, there is a woman who is a former veterinarian who got a Borzoi pup.

If Zephyr had a thinner coat, he would qualify as tall and skinny.

I don't really put Dobermans or Vizslas in the tall skinny group since I think of long legs and lean for a group like that. Both Dobermans and Vizslas are more balanced and not all legs.

Good looking group of dogs. I don't know anything about their temperament of personalities, but I think the Saluki is extra neat.

My daughter has a Viszla X GSP and she is in that 35-45 pound range. I am just guessing the upper end of it, but still I always thought she was tiny given her lineage.

I looked into the pharaoh hound, the whole blushing thing they do when they are excited or happy I thought sounded good. But alas, I fell in love with Doberman, who will always be number 1 on any list, with the Rottweiler a close second. Go Dobie!
