Meter Jump?

I was not aware of a discussion to lower the meter jump in IGP. Here we are again dumbing down for the dogs that can't instead of breeding for dogs that can. 😢

Screenshot because some of you aren't on facebook and the link wouldn't work for you:

No kidding and it's not just dog sports these days. A working dog is bred to be a working dog so they need to be able to do the age old things they were supposed to be bred to do.

and related to that, Western Europe being influenced by AR activists is trying to kill the bite sports entirely. This just came out a couple of days ago:

When are those morons going to be silenced, instead of people catering to their ridiculous ideas? I've even heard comments that they're relentlessly beating the helpless dog with a stick. :wtf:

It was my impression that the change was for IGP1 only and that the 2 and 3 would be still 1m? This is more critical for GS as they need the IGP 1 title for the breed survey. I am all for the IGP1 be accessible for young dogs and novice handlers. I have been working my young male over the hurdle but only at .8m. I waited on the full height until he hit 2 yr and had his hips/elbows OFA screening complete.

FYI - Oskar and his owner Tony are fellow members at our USCA club. They are an amazing team and Oskar is a credit to the working GS.

@Ddski5 - did you mean to leave your post blank up above?
Yes…haha.
Some of the things you say are so well said that I like to quote post it again as a 100% agreeance.

Guess I need to add something next time. That can be misconstrued as mocking your statement- sorry.

I am glad that I revisited this thread, seems sometimes I don’t get notifications of new material being posted. Must be because I leave this open on my IPhone. I do refresh the screen but it does not always show on the bell/lightning icon.

Nah. I have used a quote to reply to and then forgot to type in what I was going to say. Or typed a big long thing and forget to post "reply" and wonder why I don't see it. 🙄

I don't know what the conversation is about IGP1 only or all levels, I just heard the reference that it was being discussed. But the point is, these dogs shouldn't be pushed to do things they aren't ready for or unable to do. The SV should be held in high esteem, and only the best dogs should be passed. If they are outstanding athletes the 1M shouldn't be a problem. If they lower the jumps they are lowering the standards of what makes a great dog. GSDs showlines have been dragging down the physical abilities of one of the greatest dog breeds to ever exist. Now is the time to hold fast to what made them (and other breeds) strive for a level over and above the average dog.

How it should be done! Take your time, and looking at OFA screening is always a good idea as you up the work!

That's awesome! You have some great company to work with!

I'm passionate about this sport but unfortunately it is well over 3 hours one way to my nearest clubs and I just couldn't make it work. We'd love to see you add more content to this ScH threads space.
