Hey everyone!! So sorry to have gone MIA, it's been a hectic and stressful several months. Brief update on us, Mischa turned 3 in Feb and has graduated to no crate overnight! She got a bed and sleeps in our bedroom now! Shes great... as long as she gets walked around 1-2am otherwise she will wake me up by 4-5! We just had a vet visit Tues, and she weighs in at 70lbs. Health wise, shes doing great, looks great and she has learned so many new tricks. Our favorite right now it to "wave hi"!

Short update on me, I am still out of work. Had major surgery in May to remove my first rib to relieve compression that was causing my arm to go numb. Workers comp was finally approved so at least I have that relief. Symptoms started on the right side now post op though, so we are starting to address that. But enough about me- back to DOBES!! While at the vet, the girl at the desk asked me if I wanted to foster a doberman. I said um YES but I would be in so much trouble if I come home with another one. The office has fosters, so I jokingly asked if I could volunteer to come play with them... SO I am now a volunteer for Doberman Rescue of PA! I will not only be walking and playing with the fosters at the vet, but I will be helping with local events (handling a foster from the vet for the day) and screening applications for adoption and conducting conducting phone interviews. I am SO EXCITED to get started on this new journey!

So! How is everyone else?!?

Good to see you back, I've been a bit MIA myself, had the house repainted, concrete work done, daughter broke her foot (and moved back home) lots been going on here, so much to do, so little time. How wonderful you were able to finally put away the crate, Yay Mischa! Sorry to hear your still dealing with pain, are you scheduling the same surgery for the other side? You KNOW you will be fostering/ foster failing with a dobie soon, it's inevitable. (Then you'll be wondering WHY you waited so long! lol

No scheduling surgery yet- I have an appt tomorrow to check for compression but I'm still holding out hope that maybe it's just overuse. I would start with PT and probably injections prior to surgery, since it is such a major surgery, that's usually last option. I honestly dont know if I could foster because I wouldnt want them to leave haha!! With 3 dogs in the house now we just arent able to add another at this time. The time WILL come though when we open our home to another doberman!

It's great to see you back Sarah and you too WiglWerm!

I'm glad Mischa is doing so well and it's great news about your being able to work with the rescue there!

Yay for Mischa!! I'm happy to hear you're feeling better! I just inquired about volunteering at Doberman Rescue Unlimited located in NH. I wish it was closer as I'm probably only going to be able to get there 1-2 times a month. I'm also afraid I'll come home with another dobie
I look forward to hearing about your volunteering stories!

So lovely to see you back, Sarah. Can’t believe Mischa turned 3 earlier in the year, we need photo updates on her
She’s showing her maturity with being allowed out of the crate by night, good girl! That’s excellent news!!!

Congratulations on your new venture, too. Sounds like it’s going to be very rewarding.
