I have been looking into getting a Doberman for a few years now, but I have one major concern.
I live in Norway, Drammen and it can get very cold. I think the coldest it gets is about -17°C (1.4°F), averaging around -5°C (23°F) in the winter.
In the summer the hottest we have seen has been 29°C (84.2°F) averaging on 15°C (59°F) which I think should be fine (?).
Now, I am NOT planing to put my dog outside to stay in the yard, but I still need to take him outside for walks and exercise (Exersicing will heat up his body temperature too). Pointing this out because all the questions about temperature everyone is just complaining saying you shouldn't leave your Dobe outside when that's not even mentioned in the question.
Would it be cruel to keep a Dobe here?
Would it be smart to for example put a coat on him in the winter?
I have seen lots of photos of Dobes in the snow without anything on their paws, but I've also read their paws need protection from icey ground. Thoughts?
That said I have seen a Dobe in Norway before, but not in the winter. And it's a rare sight.
